Hello, I have a Compaq Presario with an M2N78-LA motherboard and I bought a Phenom X4 processor
but the motherboard does not accept the processor despite the compatibility stated by HP. I need help, thank you.
Configuration: Windows Vista basic Internet Explorer 7.0

I ordered an MSI motherboard and checked on the MSI website, it's okay normally, so I will assemble it in a Compaq tower with Vista Premium 64-bit. Thanks again, I believe the problem is solved, you helped me a lot, best regards, and I'll keep you updated on Friday when it's assembled.

Thank you for the response. As soon as it was installed, a message told me that it is not compatible and that the computer will shut down. It is a Phenom X4 2.6 GHz, Black Edition.

It's true, I believe my motherboard is compatible. I tried to get into the BIOS but it's not displayed long enough. The frequency issue is 5200 MT/s instead of the original 2000 MT/s, that's the problem, bus (FSB) issue. Unfortunately, I'm on the PC and can't open it right now. Anyway, thanks for the advice. So what should I do?

because you need to set it in the BIOS, otherwise the motherboard won't recognize it. Press F1 to enter the BIOS.
