Display issues with accents on Google

Solved

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as Moiu for a few days: accents turned into symbols or foreign alphabets on the Google results page. Moiu solved his problem by changing the encoding to Unicode. But where do we go to change this encoding on Google, as Moiu did?

Is it a virus?

Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    Hello,

Click on View > Encoding > Unicode (UTF-8)

    Best regards,

    Hi.

    I just found the solution.
I had the same problem at the same time, but nothing worked.
Virus, malware,... undetectable....why? Because there aren’t any!
The problem comes from the encoding language!
Right-click anywhere on the page (not in a search box, in an empty area).
Encoding --> Other --> Scroll all the way down and select Unicode UTF-8
    The problem is solved!

Don't forget to mark it as resolved ;)

Indeed, it works BUT as soon as I close the page and open a new one, it starts again. In fact, I can't remove the auto-selection activated in the drop-down menu you presented to me.

I should specify that my PC is foreign (Korean), so at best everything is in English (sorry if I'm a bit slow to follow). Right now, the automatic coding is Korean (but that wasn't the case yesterday).

By the way, why are so many people experiencing the same problem since yesterday?

In any case, thank you for this half-solution.

Go to Tools, Encoding and select Auto Detection. This way, Chrome will automatically detect the encoding as it changes from page to page.

    Hello,

After months of hassle, looking through all the forums, I knew that I didn't have a browser issue (UTF-8 encoding etc.) since I had uninstalled and then reinstalled Chrome and the problem was also occurring on Safari.

Here's how I solved the problem on my end. It was a font issue in Windows 7.

Control panel > Appearance and personalization > Fonts
And there I uninstalled all the Helvetica fonts.

Then I relaunched Chrome and the problem was solved.

I hope it works for you.

    See you later.

Have you tried changing the language in Control Panel > Regional and Language Options?

Yes, thank you, I only have the choice between English and Korean (except for the regional language where I have French)

From time to time, I have windows in French, Korean, English: it varies, it's nice, ;)
