Active word document

Hello,
I received a Word document that I would like to modify but I'm having trouble doing it; it's an active document with links: the table of contents is linked to the rest of the text. For example, if the mouse hovers over "Part II," a message automatically appears saying "ctrl+click to follow the link," and when I click, the text of Part II is displayed.
I would like to know how to enable and disable this type of link.
Thank you in advance to everyone who responds to this message.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.7

Click on Edit, Select All. (or simply press CTRL+A)
Then, press CTRL + Shift + F9 [the Shift key: the small arrow pointing upwards]
    All hyperlinks have disappeared!
Just select everything, remove the underline, and change everything back to black.
