Hello,
ladies and gentlemen good evening
I have a black screen on the HD channels of the TV package, let me explain:
Recently, I picked up an HD decoder from my France Telecom agency (since it's free since the beginning of March, might as well take advantage of it!) I have a Samsung HD Ready flat screen
I connect the decoder via HDMI to the TV (of course I removed the SCART)
and I don't see any difference... so I called 3900 and they indeed forgot to activate the HD
now on the info banner of the channels TF1, M6, France 2, Arte, NRJ it does say HD (which I didn't have before) but on the other hand I have no image, the screen is black! Otherwise, I receive the other non-HD channels of the package without problems
I rebooted the Livebox and the decoder
where could the problem come from
because Orange hasn't found the solution
thank you
best regards

For my part, I have a black screen on all the HD channels as well. But I think it comes from the bandwidth, I have a speed lower than 3 Mbps and for HD, you need at least 8 Mbps.
How do we do the stop/start for the live plug?

Thank you for your support, but I don't think I'm being stupid with the Samsung options; I don't see where to insert it...
I did some tests last night.
In the settings of the Livebox, I saw that the attenuation was at 22.5 dB.
I wanted to reduce the attenuation by “cleaning” my phone line:
- removing unnecessary phones: gain of 1 dB
- removing unnecessary telephone line branches: gain of 0.5 dB
At the end of my tests, I reached 21 dB of attenuation and there, like magic, the HD TV works properly.
Hoping I helped you. In any case, the problem is resolved for me.

Here is what my Livebox tells me.
ADSL Line Status OPERATIONAL
ADSL Standard G992_5_A
Upload speed 636 Kb/s (Intlv[LP0])
Download speed 6232 Kb/s (Intlv[LP0])
Attenuation Local termination: 20.3 (dB)
Remote termination: 5.1 (dB)
SNR Margin Local termination: 26 (dB)
Remote termination: 23 (dB)
So in terms of attenuation I am at a lower level than you, and yet I still have nothing.
I’m really happy for you that you’ve resolved the issue.

I just saw online that the eligibility for HD increased from 17 dB to 22 dB in May 2009, which could be the solution.
However, I just ran a test on the ENT to check my attenuation and here are the results (source: https://www.jechange.fr/telecom/operateurs/orange):
# Number of lines in the city: 3,500
# Distance from the central office: 663m
# Attenuation: 9.945 dB
# Estimated ADSL 2+ speed: 18 Mbps
So my attenuation is only 9.9...
Why is this result not similar to the one reported by my Livebox? And among the figures reported by my Livebox in dB, which one should I pay attention to, given that there are 4 values that relate to dB...?

I just connected to the nearest phone socket in my installation that faces the street:
I go from 20.3 to 16.7
from 5.1 to 5.0
the other two figures remain unchanged.
As evidenced by the following stats:
Local termination: 16.7 (dB)
Remote termination: 5.0 (dB)
Local termination: 26 (dB)
Remote termination: 23 (dB)
Are the other two terminations that need to be reduced?

Hello everyone,
I am facing the same problem and in the livebox settings, the attenuation is 25dB.
Whereas in the eligibility test it is indicated 6.703 dB???
Have you solved the problem???
I have an IHD 91 decoder.
Thank you in advance.

Hello Rafy,
I was unable to resolve my issue myself, so I had to go through Orange and my problem was solved. However, I don't know how they proceeded to resolve my issue, except that they restarted my HD decoder (module) from their server with the factory settings, which we cannot do manually.
I explained to them that for the HD channels (1, 2, 6 ...), I had a black screen instead. The woman I spoke to on the phone did a few things, and by the next day it was fixed and I haven't had any problems since. As long as you are eligible for HD and have sufficient bandwidth, there should be nothing preventing you from having it.
Finally, I want to point out that if you call customer service, expect them to ask if you have subscribed to an HD offer (even the free one from Orange), if your module is connected to your TV with an HDMI cable, and if your TV is HD compatible, etc.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you for your information.
I contacted Orange services at 3900, apparently I have an imbalance on my phone line, a technician is supposed to come tomorrow!
I'll see, I'm still perplexed about the quality of the public network (level of maintenance of the facilities)!!!
I will leave information about the problem after the technician's visit.

Hello,
I had a problem, poor reception only on the HD channels. I am using 2 Liveplug (Powerline) to connect the Livebox to the Orange TV decoder. A speed test replacing the Orange TV decoder with a PC showed 3.3Mb/s.
A restart of the Liveplugs gives me 10Mb/s and proper reception of the HD channels!!

Cleaning or rewiring your phone line (or network) can help a lot in cases of poor reception...
Two tips that I got from another forum (which allowed me to get HD TV, as I was not eligible for HD by just 2.5 db):

Hello, I allow myself to reply to this post because I live in Corsica and I've recently had the same issue.
We are currently connected to a satellite dish, my neighbor below receives very well, but he has the old "Livebox" decoder. However, I have to thank technology because we acquired an HD decoder since the old one is no longer available on the market...
As a result, I don't receive any HD channels (TF1, F2, etc.), yet I do have channel 17 and some Canal+ HD channels... Weird, so I'm reading your posts and the only options left for me are:
* To have a technician come
* or to rebuild my line?
I'm waiting for your responses, thank you.
