A video in two languages simultaneously!

Hello,

Here's my problem, which is quite simple, but since I’m not a computer expert, I would greatly need your help! Thank you in advance!

The issue comes from a movie I have on my computer in AVI format: the strange thing is that two languages are spoken simultaneously, and I really mean simultaneously! Here I am with Bruce Willis speaking English, and over that, a dubbed voice speaks French.

So my question is quite simple: how can I make Bruce Willis only speak French, without the original language in the background?

    What "media player" are you using to watch this movie, please?
    There might be a choice to make for the language.

    Some info about the AVI container:
    AVI
    File container: audio and video
    Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a file format designed to store audio and video data.
    AVI uses a single standard "container file" package to allow simultaneous playback of image and sound.
    The AVI format can combine a video track and up to 99 audio tracks in a single file, which allows for multiple languages for the same movie, for example.
    Example: For a movie called "DivX," the .AVI file can contain a video in MPEG format and audio in MP3 or WMA format.

    First of all, thank you for the speed of this response and its quality: I believe I have understood the story of the multiple audio files attached to the video file.
    I used WMA as the player. So what should I do to switch to French?

    Ouch! I don't know this player!

    Are you sure about the name of this player?

    WMA is the name of Windows' audio codec (Windows Media Audio)!

    Oops! I simply made a mistake. The player is WMP, not indeed WMA.

    Alright!
    I've never had this issue, so I'm guiding you blindly (and with no certainty of the result, LOL).
    There's a "Languages and audio tracks" section (under "Playback" in the menu bar) to select the audio.
    Click on "default values" during playback, a choice box should appear.

    I can't help but wonder if it's even possible!

    The problem may stem from the film's encoding.
    Have you tried with a commercial, multi-language DVD?
    In the properties of this film (in the summary, I believe), the used codecs are indicated.
    Check if there are two sound tracks or just one.

    Re-good evening...

    I just found a solution to my problem. I opened the file in VLC, then went into the audio menu and selected "neosoundBV1". The player then played the movie entirely in French (knowing that selecting "neosoundBV0" plays the movie in English).
    I still want to thank you so much for a Sunday afternoon spent trying to solve my problems...
