Hello everyone. As the title indicates I wanted to know which processors are compatible with the motherboard ipibl-lb. I want to change the processor to stop bottlenecking my graphics card which is an ATI Radeon HD3850 256MB. I had planned the E8400 3GHz 45nm process, but I don’t know if my motherboard supports 45nm. The current one is the E2140 1.6GHz 65nm. So the 65nm are compatible. What about 45nm? Do I need to flash the BIOS???
Here is my config:
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB.
Motherboard: IPIBL-LB (Benicia). ===>http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01611312&lc=fr&dlc=fr&cc=be&product=3704514&lang=fr
RAM: 4GB RAM (only 3GB used because my system is 32-bit. The 4th GB is for peripherals).
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2140 1.6GHz > Plan the E8400 (if compatible)
Power supply: ANTEC 430W.
Operating system: Windows Vista (32-bit)
Thanks for your answers ^^

if the link you provide is indeed for the characteristics of your motherboard, it says that it supports socket 775, which corresponds to the Core 2 Duo sockets, and then below it states:
Supported processors:
* Core 2 Quad Q9xxx with Quad Core technology
* Core 2 Duo E8xxx
* Core 2 Quad Q6xx0 with Quad Core technology
* Core 2 Duo E6x00
* Core 2 Duo E4x00 -
I find it strange, because the characteristics given for your CM are suited for an 8400 that are all in 45nm

yes all, anyway it’s not the engraving that matters but the type of socket (for you the 775). in the end when you have your processor in the main it won’t be 45nm XD it’s just about the transistor size, the smaller it is the less it heats.

You're welcome with pleasure =)
