Hello,
I bought Dawn of War 2 on Steam, I downloaded it but when I open it, nothing happens and an error message appears telling me that the game has to close. Could you please enlighten me on this? I don't understand why it's not working.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    Good evening
It's worse for me, the installation goes perfectly but I can't play it (of course, I've checked my firewall to see if it's blocking it, but apparently not).

I click on play the game or on the DOW 2 icon and Steam pairs up saying launching the game and nothing happens, I've restarted my computer plenty of times and also uninstalled, I've even uninstalled everything, so I'm starting to lose patience and I'm thinking that I didn't pay 50€ for nothing --"

So I'm turning to you to PLAY THIS GAME!!!

    Please help me

Exactly the same as Totozer, Steam shows me the game launching and then nothing.

Just like Marcuslepro, the installer puts in the components but then says "Installation failed. Please try again."
      Great.
We then try to install it on an old and completely cracked PC from all sides, from Windows to the virtual CD drive, and there, the installation goes smoothly.

      And yet...

It's not over, in Oceania (I'm from Tahiti), our ADSL internet connection runs at no more than 16 KB/S.
Not bad considering that the installer only puts 3.5GB on the hard drive and that the remaining 2GB to make the 5.5GB marked on the box need to be downloaded...

This other PC has been running for hours and not a single % of the update has been completed.

I swear, once it's downloaded, we'll get all our IT friends involved to crack this damn scam system.

Great for those who don't have internet in their valleys or atolls; this will teach us to be honest when buying a game we care about.

THQ can be sure that its sales in Oceania and Asia will drop significantly; we will take care of spreading the full free version!

Same thing, I thought it was my machine, I don't know if it presses on its own but this system is really crap
From now on, I will check before buying a game that it is not on Steam.

I downloaded a game on Steam, but the server is overloaded. Is that normal? Please respond quickly.

Well, it's normal..... I'm going to explain to you how to play Dawn of War 2
So the game doesn't work because your DirectX is too low for the game to run
So you go on Google and type install DirectX9 oc, download it to my downloads
Then go to system restoration and click ok.....
This may take a few minutes....
    There you go

      Hello.

I downloaded the latest version of DirectX. But the same problem described by Totozer is still happening.
      How can we fix it???
Thank you very much for your response.

I don't get any error messages.
I click on "play" in "my games" in Steam or on the desktop icon, and it says "Preparing to launch Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Chaos Rising." This small window stays for a second and a half, then closes, and nothing happens. The computer isn't running anything, it doesn't try to open the game...
I've tried about twenty times, and nothing works.

    Can you help me?

I love all these new games where you can't play without an internet connection, these games where you have to wait for Steam's good will and get screwed by that crap of Game Live Window that absolutely requires you to log in to play.

I have a big problem, every time I launch DoW 2, Steam tells me, "Steam has found a problem with your local game files. Game files will now be re-acquired from the Steam servers."

So I wanted to delete it to reinstall it and it tells me that the disk space is insufficient. After this attempt, I launch the CD and see "installation," which I do, but Steam says the servers are overloaded and that my request cannot be processed. Then back to the Steam game list where DoW 2 still appears as "ready," and if I launch it, I get the same message again.

In short, how to waste €50 for absolutely nothing.

And yes, my config is top-notch and all my drivers and updates are up to date, and I've rebooted and waited a long, long time.

It's confirmed! After rebooting and downloading a second patch, the game is working very well.
See you soon in game ;)

I have another problem... It's about the graphics configuration, there's a bug, it won't start because of that... Yet I have the minimum configuration, but I don't know if DirectX 9.0 is properly installed or if the drivers are missing...

      Can you help me, please?

      Thank you, :)

here is the link to the official site... several people have gotten it to work either by restarting and re-downloading the patches, or by reinstalling, or some other more exotic manipulations.... in short, no worries, the problem seems to be widespread.

    Hello,
I recently bought the game Dawn of War II on PC, after of course checking my system specifications. The installation went without any issues: creating a Steam account, installing Steam, and then installing the game. But here’s the problem: when I launch the game, nothing happens, and after about 20 seconds, I get an error message saying:
" Unable to find a supported hardware rendering device. Please verify that your system meets the minimum requirements for Dawn of War II, that Direct X is properly installed, and that the latest drivers are installed on your system. " => Even though my system specifications are good!

    What should I do???
Thank you for your help :)

Hi, I saw that many of you have the same problem with starting the game or Steam. I found a solution (that works for me, at least) you need to go to Steam (the page where it says "launch the game") and set it to English. It never worked for me in French, and since I switched it to English, there have been no more issues. I know playing in English is a bit annoying, but it's better than nothing. I hope this helps you.

Big bug, so installation no problem, update no problem, launching the PROBLEM, I launch it and it tells me launching DOW 2 in progress... and 2 seconds later it tells me this game is not available OMG I restarted 56 times, I rebooted 12 times and ALWAYS the same problem (I am on a laptop).

To install without downloading, you need to delete all local content in Steam for the game, then close Steam. After that, insert the CD and install the game. It will install from the disk (at least it works for me).

Run the setup as an administrator. Make sure that Steam is connected. If it doesn't work, try again; the Steam server might be too busy.

Me too, it's relic that makes it glitch, but you need to switch to English for it to work again.

I bought Dawn of War II yesterday and installed it without any problems, and it's downloading (at least I think so; otherwise, it's a 6-gigabyte update, and when it starts, it really feels like the CD is useless) and did an update of 950 MB a little while ago, but now, I have an error report with no information on why or how.

    Does anyone have a solution?

I want to specify that I launched the game both online and offline.

    Hello

I just bought Dawn of War 2, but when I launch the game, Steam tells me that the content is hosted on Left 4 Dead and that the game will be ready to use in 15 minutes or so.
