Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Packard Bell EASYNOTE SL65-M-014 ( http://support.packardbell.com/fr/item/index.php?pn=PC26Q00802&t=1409 ).
However, it runs on Vista and I would like to install a version of XP MCE. For that, I need to obtain the drivers for each component, especially for the motherboard...
And that's where the problem arises since on the Packard Bell site, they only have the Vista drivers, of course! And since I'm a novice, I've searched a bit on all the drivers.com and other similar sites, but I found nothing :(
Can you help me please? Maybe you know of equivalent or compatible drivers even if they weren't intended for it in the first place.

For me, I wouldn't take the risk, especially with Packard Bell; it's not easy to find the drivers, and the motherboard is from them, since they don't provide anything, you'll be more bothered.

I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that.
Alright about the hassle, but what’s preferable? Otherwise, it’s Vista that’s going to mess with me all the time.
For the Vista drivers, I have everything on my quick restore DVD, so I don’t think I'm taking too many risks (am I wrong?), at worst I will have just wasted my time.
Otherwise, for those in the know, would it be possible to modify a Vista driver to make it compatible with XP?
Off-topic question while I think of it: I've had this PC for a month.
Am I allowed to request a complete license for Vista not limited to OEM (I paid for it after all!)?

if you have all the Vista drivers, no worries, give XP a shot, worst case scenario we'll help you find the drivers

Good evening,
I just bought the same second-hand computer as you,
can you tell me what software you got in total? You did have Vista, right?
I just bought the same second-hand computer as you,
can you tell me what software you got in total? You did have Vista, right?
For the software, I can't remember since I've deleted half of them, which were trial versions. The easiest way for you would be to find them on the Packard Bell website; they have the complete list of initial components for each PC. Otherwise, if you give me your email, I can try to give you a copy of my restoration CD. You won't be able to run it, but you'll have the installations ;)
Indeed, no copy was provided. And the disk is tattooed, which means you probably won't be able to use my DVD without "fiddling" with it a bit... Anyway, I have your address. For now, I don't have the time to send it to you (I need to make the ISO, etc... and I would like to change my OS first) so I will send it to you next week. After that, I might forget, so it will be up to you to remind me. My address is: gnognote@laposte.net
Bye and sorry for the delay.
Bye and sorry for the delay.
why would Vista bother you? ==>In two weeks, I've already had about twenty crashes or bugs more or
less important, including a manufacturer's return due to a crash of Vista. Not
to mention that it eats up a lot of RAM and disk space (>15GB!). I
think that with XP, I will boost the PC's performance and in any case, I will have
a reliable system!
If you have all the Vista drivers, no worries, give it a try with XP; at worst, we will help you find the drivers
==>Thanks, I'll keep you updated on the progress. For now, any potentially compatible drivers would be welcome.

With the analysis of tld.com for the compatible MCE drivers, I end up with this:
http://a01-b01.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmdController/cache/7vkOdG7OztXfOVYGGBpH%26Oi84QhQ%26ecwZ7d1BqeFkNE8*%3D%3DG5Y--X9XxZm%26BT8U/item.jpg?rot=1
The ones in red that we can't download, what does that mean? That they are not compatible and/or that they cannot be obtained?
How can I find out which ones I might be missing?
On the other hand, if I add them to the XP MCE installation CD, will it find them automatically? If not, what is the procedure to follow?

I have seen times when TLD couldn't find a driver, and by searching online, there was one available, so all the drivers are good, but it's not a bible.

YES, you said it, Gouby! I hope I can still find the right drivers.
Otherwise, yesterday I started the installation "just to see" and it crashed at the final step (installation of components or something like that), no mouse, nothing at all. The screen froze and the little green squares stopped blinking in the bottom right.
I had to reboot under Vista (which fortunately I hadn’t deleted).
I imagine the problem is due to the PM45 chipset driver. I thought that, not finding it, it would ask me to point it to the driver I had saved on USB key and DVD, but nope, it tried to install it all at once and crashed.
Do you know how to do that?

Well, I'm done eating, back to geek mode! So I have a problem because I have my drivers now, but those for the chipset and the graphics card are in .exe
And I need them in .inf
I tried opening the .exe with universal extractor but it couldn't do it...

Hey! I'm back...with a new problem. For the drivers, I finally managed to recover them with 7.zip
As for the chipset, I wasn't able to retrieve the one from the first link Gouby gave me because it was "corrupted". So I installed the one from tld.com and got the file pm45gm45.inf.
But during the installation, here we go again!!
Everything goes very well, it loads the files onto the disk and launches the installation screen (the one that shows the installation status on the left and scrolls the list of improvements and features of XP on the right with the little green squares flashing at the bottom).
The "preparing installation" step starts and then launches "installing devices" until the gauge reaches a little over halfway and then everything freezes! I have to restart by pressing the button.
Can someone help me? I'm starting to despair...

I have the same computer as you and the same problem. I made a 160GB partition, I install on the partition and everything goes well, but when it comes time to install Windows, it tells me there are 35 minutes left and everything freezes... I don't understand anything!
If you have a solution, I'm all ears!!!

Yes, I know... It's a matter of drivers.
By looking in the setupapi.log document located at c:\windows\setupapi.log, you should find what's wrong... first, delete the battery.inf file from the installation and download the drivers for the devices 293C and 294A from Intel... And you'll save a minute.
Otherwise, I continue to search, the problem is that it's a very long process, I do a bit each evening: launching the install, seeing what's blocking, deleting the bad drivers and/or downloading the good ones, trying an installation again, etc...
If you want, I'll let you know if I succeed, it seems possible but very long.
Keep me updated on your progress, I'm interested.

I reinstalled Vista as originally, I created a partition from Vista, then I boot with the XP Pro CD and it freezes again at 35% of the installation. I obviously disabled AHCI in the BIOS to set it to IDE, that's the only solution I found...
I've tried several times but it gets stuck. If you manage to get a working system, let me know... the worst part is that once it blocks, you're forced to reinstall Vista (restoration) to start over, I've done this about ten times and I don't understand anything lol (???)
Packard Bell is a bit abusive for limiting its PCs like this, and when you search for a laptop with XP Pro, there's almost nothing... might as well switch to Mac for the future :)
Anyway, let me know if you have a solution, I'm interested. I use my PC for sound in addition to fixing my studio
and some programs don't work... And let's not kid ourselves, Vista is crap lol.

Well, here’s where I stand:
I'm looking for the Intel drivers (product ID numbers)
-2919
-2a41
-2a40
-82802
-82801 PCI 2448
-293A
-2934
All these drivers must be compatible with XP and must work on ICH9 chipsets (that is, once downloaded, if it's a folder there should be an ich9...inf file. If it's an executable, you extract it with 7-zip and similarly, check if there's an ich9 somewhere).
Normally, with all this and what I already have, it shouldn't be a problem anymore.
Unfortunately, I can't find them and I don't even know if they exist for XP... In that case, we might be able to find modified Vista drivers, but I don't know where to look.

I am still looking for an XP driver for my SATA hard drive "Seagate Momentus 5400.4" also known as "ST9250827AS ATA Device (232.88Go)"
I think that's not the problem since I had disabled SATA in the BIOS and chosen IDE for installation.
Does anyone know a solution for the XP installation freeze?

I can't update my Compasseo 300 Packard Bell GPS with my Windows Vista computer. Could someone please let me know how to do it? Thank you in advance.
I had the same problem as you... I managed to reinstall all the drivers except 3: Bluetooth, infrared, and the mass storage controller (with a nice big question mark in the device manager). If anyone has successfully gone from Vista to XP from A to Z, I am eager to know the solution!!!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
