Hello,
please help me, well I have a Kingston DataTraveler 4GB USB drive that was working perfectly, but one day my PC crashed and I had to remove it without ejecting it. That's when my problem started. I can't add or delete anything from my drive, it shows me (this disk is write-protected, remove the write protection or use another disk). Also, my drive doesn’t have a hold button. I wonder if you can give me a software that can help me remove this protection, knowing that I can't even format it. It's always the same message.
Thank you in advance

Thank you, but I still have the same problem
I used the command prompt method, but it says "this volume is write-protected." -
You must delete the partition
it's a thing (method) that I created
when you boot with the operating system CD, leave the USB key plugged into the PC and delete the partition
and then create a new (empty) one without installing the system on this key, exit immediately after that
wish that will help you!
thank you! -
format your USB drive, start, control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management, right-click on your drive and select format

Right-click on your drive in My Computer, and properties check if it is read-only.

Have you tried scanning it with an antivirus?

HERE IS THE SECOND METHOD
We will proceed as follows:
Go to your computer and check the name of the drive for your USB stick. (write it down).
Select your USB stick, right-click on it/properties, and check that it is indeed formatted as FAT32. VERY IMPORTANT
Then go to the DOS command prompt of your operating system.
Start/accessories/command prompt.
At the prompt: C:\documents and settings\XXXX>
Type format (your drive name):/fs:fat32
EX: format j:/fs:fat32 and press enter.
Be careful not to choose the wrong drive.
This operation will format all the data on your USB stick. -

I understand your problem. I have a USB drive that came with a utility that formats my drive automatically. It creates one accessible partition and another read-only one with a file on it. In the disk manager, this partition is indeed marked as read-only.
Conclusion: The architecture of USB drives or the FAT file system must certainly allow locking a partition in read-only mode... it would not be a malfunction but rather a feature; the question remains how to unlock this read-only setting.
