Hello,

My story is very complicated... First of all, not long ago, the hard drive of my computer crashed. I got another one of 20GB with a 250GB in the background. I reinstalled The Sims 2 with all my expansions and when I opened it, a window appeared saying: Fatal Error must close. So I tried to uninstall and reinstall them but when it came to uninstalling The Sims 2 'Original', it said that it couldn't find the file to uninstall and that it might already be uninstalled. Since then, I can’t play because every time a red X appears and that's it... Help me please.

P.S. When I installed the game, I installed it on the 250GB hard drive.

Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone !!

One day, I wanted to play the Sims. Everything was fine. However, I noticed something strange; Veronaville had disappeared... I didn't pay attention to that detail. I clicked on my neighborhood, and suddenly, during the loading, the following message appeared; "fatal error, the application will be closed." Instinctively, I deleted ALL my downloads. It didn't help. I scoured all possible and imaginable forums, and I applied all the solutions that came my way. But the message still appeared. I uninstalled and then reinstalled. But nothing worked. So, I created a guest session. I started the game, and, miracle!! the game worked.

So there ^^. I hope this tip helps some people!! Good luck to everyone !!

I had the same problem, I don't know if you have a desktop or a laptop, for my part it was because of my laptop since I was in energy-saving mode so I switched to normal usage and now it's all good! Good luck!

Hello everyone!!! So I have a problem with my Sims 2!!
I install it on my PC, the installation goes smoothly until the end when it asks me if I want to launch Sims 2 or finish everything. After that, when I click on the Sims 2 icon to play, the Sims 2 logo appears and disappears, and a small window opens with the message: "The instruction at 0x667...(etc) references memory address 0x011a...(etc). The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program or Cancel to debug the program."

No matter where I click, nothing changes; I click and nothing happens! I've uninstalled and reinstalled Sims several times, and it keeps doing the same thing, so please:

HELP MEEEEEEEEEEE

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I'm here for the "fatal error" issue in The Sims 2 because I just reformatted and reinstalled my hard drive (a day ago) because it had a problem. I haven’t done any downloads and my PC is completely empty (except for the sound drivers and the rest), so I wanted to know if anyone has a solution for this because it's driving me crazy. My setup is a P5B motherboard, an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card, I believe 320, Intel Core 2 Duo E 6550 2.33 GHz processor, and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM from Corsair. Thanks.

Me too, it happened to me, so I uninstalled it and it worked again, but after 10 minutes it did it again, so if you have a solution, please let me know.

Hello,
I have the problem mentioned since the beginning of this topic. I deleted all my downloads and it worked. But I wanted to play with them. So, one by one, I put them back to see which one was faulty... but then they all worked. I'm trying to play The Sims 2 again tonight and now... the game won't launch again! I don't understand where the problem is -_-"

If there are any other solutions, I would really appreciate it!^^

Best regards,
Pandamtaro.

It might be because you have add-ons: If you have them in the same file (I think The Sims 2), they are conflicting. Separate your add-ons (one add-on file and one original Sims 2).

I can't separate the addon from the game since I have the DELUXE version on DVD. Anyway, it seems strange to me that the problem would come from there: when I installed it on this PC for the first time, it worked. I reinstalled it, and after reinstalling it, it worked again. I turn on the PC the next day, without having touched it... and it doesn't work anymore ^^

Thanks anyway for your response! ;)

I have the same problem but only with certain houses! However, they're not downloaded houses; they are part of the game "Seasons" (I have all the add-ons). Apparently, it's only with those houses that it happens to me... I really don't want to move my family and lose all my downloads, can you help me!!!
Thanks in advance

I have this problem too, a friend gave me some Sims CDs but when I try to go to a neighborhood, that cursed message appears. It happened to me before but I just had to delete a few downloads and it worked like a charm again :)
But now I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times, I don’t have any downloads left and the problem persists!
Help! :(

Hi,
Well, like you, I have this fatal error that appears every time I want to play, and I’m also downloading and I understand that I need to delete some downloads, but do I have to delete everything or not??
Thanks for your help

Good evening everyone!

I also had the fatal error problem, and I uninstalled The Sims 2, defragmented my hard drive, restarted my PC, installed The Sims 2, restarted my PC, installed one expansion, restarted the PC, installed another expansion, restarted my PC, and launched The Sims 2.
It seems that you shouldn't have anything plugged into the USB ports either.
Also, try to keep your drivers up to date, and I think it should work pretty well...

Personally, I did all that, and since then I've encountered the fatal error twice, but after 3-4 hours of gameplay. So it's not a miracle solution, but it's not bad...

(It's not a hardware issue either, because people with exactly the same computers don't necessarily have this problem.)

Good luck to you all! :)

Ah sorry for the double post but I forgot something lol

I saw that some people were saying that downloads were causing the fatal error. I don't think that's the case, I believe you need to add the files in multiple batches & launch the game in between... I don't know if it works for everyone, but it worked for me.

Personally, I solved my problem; if we can call it a "solution," I put in my own CDs and it worked... because initially it was with a friend's CDs that the problem occurred. I talked about it to a friend who simply told me that it was the disc that was scratched! It wasn't the computer that had a glitch! I advise you to check that the CD is in good condition before going crazy on your computer!

Kisses to all!
