R4 DS card and cartridge not detected

Hello,
Santa brought my daughter an R4 loaded with games.
The problem is that her Nintendo DS Lite keeps saying "No DS card inserted." (same for the cartridge)
I tried the card on another DS and it works fine.
I tried another R4 on my daughter's DS and it also works.
Can anyone help me understand the problem???
I read that you should put a piece of paper between the linker and the DS, but it doesn't change anything.

I had the same problem today
the PAPER should not slide between the linker and the DS but in the linker between the exposed circuit board and the plastic of the cartridge because the board is thinner than those of original games (USE A PIECE OF RATHER THIN CARDBOARD)
USE YOUR NAIL TO PRY IT APART BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO PULL TOO HARD ON IT
