Hello,
I have set up my email addresses on my new Nokia E71 and I am trying to retrieve my messages but to no avail.
Can you help me? There is probably a configuration issue; do I need to do something with Orange?
Thank you in advance.

Hello, I managed to set up my work email on my E71 (using the same settings as for my Outlook), I receive emails perfectly, but I can't send any. Does anyone have an idea of what’s going on? Regarding outgoing emails, should I use the configuration for the Orange server?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hello, I managed to set up my mailboxes.
My phone - Nokia E71
My provider - SFR
My plan - "Forfait Illimythics 3G+ Full Internet 2H"
My mailbox - hotmail
Step 1. Configure access point. Menu - Tools - Settings - Connection - Access points - Option - New access point - Connection Name (SL2 SFR) - Data bearer (Packet data) - Access point name (sls2sfr) - Username (I put none) - Password (if you want) - Authentication (secure) - Homepage.
Step 2. Configure the mailbox.
Incoming emails. Username (xxxxxxx@hotmail.com) - Password (the one for your mailbox) - Incoming mail server (pop3.live.com) - Access point used (SL2 SFR) - Mailbox name (hotmail.com) - Mailbox type (POP3) - Security ports (SSL/TLS) - Port (by default) - Secure APOP connection (Disabled).
That's it.
Good luck to everyone.

Hello everyone, I have an Illimytic iPhone 3G+ plan
I managed to configure my yahoo.fr email address
I can send and receive emails, but regarding my orange address everything is fine, but when it comes to changing the outgoing mail server, I don't understand why it refuses as soon as I enter smtp.orange.fr!!!
I'm lost and I need help, it's really just at this level that I'm getting frustrated, plus telephony is my field, but I'm a bit annoyed to be stuck on something so simple!!!

To send and receive emails, you need to configure the Nokia E71 as follows;
1) click on the Email box located to the right of the Joystick
2) go to options and select Email settings
3) then open Incoming Email settings and change the name of the incoming mail server to Imap.neuf.fr instead of imap.sfr.fr
4) go back and open outgoing email, here too, you need to change the server name to stmp.neuf.fr
By adopting these changes, my E71 works perfectly.
Nb: I bought it two days ago at SFR
If you are with a different service provider than SFR, you need to change the incoming and outgoing names while keeping Imap and stmp roots.
For example: imap.free.fr and stmp.free.fr
1) click on the Email box located to the right of the Joystick
2) go to options and select Email settings
3) then open Incoming Email settings and change the name of the incoming mail server to Imap.neuf.fr instead of imap.sfr.fr

Hi,
since you managed to set up your E71, can you tell me which messaging service you are using???
I have a SFR subscription but can't configure the phone to retrieve and send messages from my Hotmail account...
How should I do it???
SFR subscription
MESSAGING > HOTMAIL
Uh, I should mention that I am completely inexperienced in telecommunications... unfortunately ;-(

Thank you very much for your help, I have an e71 and I was unable to retrieve my emails via Wi-Fi (no internet subscription in my plan); I used your method (I changed Imap.mobile.sfr.fr originally integrated into my e71 to Imap.sfr.fr) and miracle, I just received all my emails. Well done!! I'm just 1 year late :))
all these problems are solved by Nokia Mail for Exchange. Follow this link:

Hi everyone,
I have the same problem with my Nokia E71; I can't retrieve my emails (Hotmail address). The automatic configuration doesn't seem to have worked and I can't fix this issue.
If anyone has the solution!!
Cheers

Hello
Regarding the illimitic 3G + SFR plan (Nokia Messaging E71), the 3G reception is fine, but I cannot send messages. Is there a specific setting to adjust on the phone?

I am exactly in your situation, along with two friends of mine, which means that at least 4 people are in great distress.
Thank you to those who have tips to share to give them ;-)

Yes, I can't configure yahoo.fr on my E71 either. The push mail only works with my Gmail account.
Does anyone have the solution?
I also downloaded Nokia messaging, but it gave me different configuration parameters.
Incoming server: e.mx.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing server: the same
and mailbox type IMAP 4
I thought I knew that the Yahoo server was a POP3
Weird!

I have a response for the explanation about the IMAP and POP3 protocols
Every mail server uses POP or IMAP to retrieve messages.
The IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) protocol is an alternative to the POP3 protocol but offers many more possibilities:
* IMAP allows managing multiple simultaneous accesses
* IMAP allows managing multiple mailboxes
* IMAP allows sorting mail according to more criteria
Hoping to have answered at least one question

I'm unable to open my emails. I've set pop.free.fr and smtp.free.fr on Wi-Fi anyway.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I managed to send emails with my free address, but I can't receive them, all while using only wifi.
To send, you need to set smtp.free.fr, or if free is not the internet service provider, replace free with the name of the provider: neuf, orange,...
If you have any ideas on how to receive emails, I’m interested.
Best regards.

Hello,
I'm experiencing a similar issue on an E71 with wanadoo; the reception is fine, but I can't send an email. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well, actually you shouldn't put the stmp.orange.fr
that's the biggest problem, I don't know what operator you're using, but there are a lot of things and I don't remember very well, I had my phone stolen and I don't have the configuration in front of me, it's a bit of a shame for you, I would have explained it to you, but you can also use Nokia messaging, it's just as good.

Hello,
Apparently, receiving emails via the 3G+ plan works, but is there any configuration needed for sending emails on the E71 phone?

I'm with Virgin Mobile and I have the E71. I was supposed to sign up for Nokia Messaging to get part of my phone reimbursed, but I never received the confirmation email (to print and send back) from Nokia Messaging.
Also, I can connect to Wi-Fi but I can't retrieve my emails even though I set up my email (Hotmail).
It says that my Nokia Messaging account is inactive, I don't know what to do, I'm going to lose it! So if you could help me, please contact me as soon as possible! lol!

Hello :)
I have exactly the same problem.
I have a Paradyse plan with 3 hours for €51.
I can get reimbursed €50 by creating an account on Nokia Messaging.
The problem: I can't create this account online.
From my PC, I go to the address http://email.nokia.com/account/home.action.
I enter my phone number, selecting the E71 as the phone model.
I have never received a text message.
The problem is that I need the confirmation email to get reimbursed the €50.
It seems they did it on purpose...
If anyone has a solution...
Thanks in advance
David

Hello,
With the illimythics 3G+ plan, can I freely check my Yahoo emails on the Yahoo site? My question might seem silly, but I read somewhere on a forum that it could get restricted on Gmail, for example.
I'm really lost with this plan!!!!
Thank you for your help!

I just bought this phone and like for many it seems, configuring my Hotmail and Orange emails is a headache whether it's for receiving or sending... so your help would be appreciated.
My email address is precious79@hotmail.fr
Thanks in advance.
to contact me: clairebardy@hotmail.fr
thanks in advance! ;)
I can't configure it to receive my emails.
I'm on SFR and I use Yahoo and Hotmail
If someone can help me
thank you very much
I am also having trouble configuring my E71 to send and receive my emails.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Best regards
sorry for the response time!!!!
So here it is, for Hotmail on SFR there’s an option for €9 per email
for Orange it's not obvious, every time it tells me server problem
but the configuration is:
for the POP
pop.orange.fr
for the SMTP
that's where it gets stuck for a lot of people
smtp.sfr.fr
