Hello,

we bought a second-hand pickling machine 422 (the manual was not included!) and we have a problem with the adjustment of the vertical bobbin system and the needle,

The needle drops and gets stuck in the bobbin holder. We noticed that the bobbin holder consists of a part that rotates, and maybe it's this part that is poorly adjusted..., there's a misalignment, the needle drops and gets stuck in the bobbin holder,

What should we do??? Thank you in advance for your response,

Regards

It may be a bit late, but I have the instruction booklet for the pickling machine 422 if you're still interested. I can send you a copy. As for me, I'm looking for a canister box. While searching for what I want, I came across your request. Best regards, MARIE.

      Hello
I just received this famous sewing machine, but unfortunately without a manual, and I see that you could possibly help me by sending me this manual via email. I just tried it, but when I try it on a dishcloth, for example, I feel like the needle doesn't go down enough, even after lowering the little lever to ensure the needle is at its maximum position. I don't understand, and when I turn it on, nothing happens. Indeed, I don't know anything about it, and maybe my son is positioning the needle incorrectly. Please help me :) Thank you in advance for your reply. Talk to you soon.

    Hello,

I see that the topic interests a lot of people... For me, I've given up. The repair would cost more than the machine. Moreover, I got a professional opinion on another forum, here's the response:

    "Hello Sara,

I know the old PICKLING sewing machines because I've almost always seen them broken. The misaligned hook problem is unfortunately not new for this type of sewing machine.
I don't have a photo to show you regarding this model, but generally, it requires a technician's intervention to realign the hook, which must be adjusted to the millimeter.
However, I must warn you that despite a repair, you won't be safe from a new breakdown because it's unfortunately quite common for this type of sewing machine.
    Good luck Sara"

Same as Ishika, the machine is sleeping...

    Good luck

    Hi again,

I finally understood that it was the shuttle (hook + bobbin) that was out of sync with the movement of the needle, so I don't know what to do!!!

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

Hi Marie, it’s kind of you to offer me your pickling booklet, but it’s really not a problem because I got the booklet with the machine, and I think the issue comes from the shuttle. I don’t even want to send it for repairs because it’s going to cost me more than the purchase price, so for now, it’s just lying around and it’s really useless to me. I know it’s stupid, but that’s how it is. Otherwise, for your bobbin case, are you looking for an original (pickling) one or a standard one? Because I can tell you that this brand is really not well-known at all, so it might be tricky for you, but in my opinion, a standard case should work just fine. Anyway, good luck with your search; I’m throwing in the towel.

Hello everyone, I'm finally back after a long absence. As I mentioned before, my issue was also with the shuttle (hook + bobbin) being out of sync with the needle movement. Basically, it just needs to be adjusted by a repair technician. Since mom gave me her machine, I'm offering mine, along with the manual, for thirty euros if anyone is interested.

    Hello again,

after looking a little more on the internet, it seems, from what I understand, that the needle is touching the hook... Is there a solution that can be implemented? Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I have the same problem on another machine model. To solve it, I shifted the belt that drives the fork by a few notches.

      Thank you Herpc,

I'll try that as soon as I get back home (hoping I know how to do it ...),

      and happy New Year 2009.

    Hello everyone,

I'm in the same boat; I bought a Pickling sewing machine on eBay, and to my dismay, it didn't work. After long and extensive searches, I found out that I had the same issue: the shuttle is misaligned, so the thread doesn't loop at the bobbin level. Sometimes the needle hits the bobbin, and I can't retrieve the thread from underneath with the one from above. I tried everything to adjust the hooks at the shuttle level, but nothing worked. It feels like they pivot randomly, sometimes differently each time, or even spin in place. I'm desperate because the repair will cost even more than the machine itself if I decide to go ahead with it. If someone could give me THE SOLUTION, I would be so grateful.

    Thank youuuuuuuu!
