system restore Eee PC Solved

I hope to find a solution to my problem here. I have an Asus Eee PC and I wanted to connect to Wi-Fi knowing that I am a subscriber to Alice:
First, I contacted Alice's technical support, who could do nothing on their end. Then I was directed to the ALICE forum. At first, I logged into this forum to find out how to connect to Wi-Fi with my EeePC
I found a procedure that I followed on my Eee PC:
You open a console (CTRL + ALT + T)
You type: sudo bash (entering pseudo admin mode)
You type: sudo kwrite /usr/bin/startsimple.sh
(editing the file to modify)
You add the command just before exec icewm: sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling=0 -->
(is it zero[u] or/u an "O "?)
You save the modification
You close the console
You restart your EeePC and .... Miracle NOTHING WORKS NOW? I only have a flashing black screen.

Then I was told to launch the recovery with F9, which I did, but it’s still the same.
With the help of the support DVD by pressing F2, I get a table written in English and I don't know what to do! It mentions "USB:DVD " is there a cable to connect? If so, which one is it?

I don't want to launch with the USB stick yet; I know it's complicated unless I can't find other solutions.
In the user manual, it says, "Don't hesitate to contact us, but WHERE?"

Hello,
follow this procedure:

Restoration from the hidden partition Eeepc

At startup, you need to press the F2 key several times quickly. You will then be in the BIOS; using the keyboard arrows,
navigate to the Boot tab, select Boot Booster, press the
"Enter" key, choose "Disabled" and press F10 to exit the BIOS while
saving the changes.

During the next startup, you need to press the F9 key several times
quickly. Then, on Windows Boot Manager, choose Windows
Set Up and press enter; a window "Asus preload wizard" will appear, validate
with "Enter" (or Next...), choose the third option, validate (Next...), you
will initiate the restoration.

Make a backup of your data before proceeding with the
restoration, as you will erase everything on the hard drive.

After 250 different manipulations, I finally succeeded....
So to restore, you actually need to turn off your computer... press and hold the reset button underneath, and at the same time you turn it on, keep holding shift+F9
and then you choose the third option: factory reset....
And there you go!

Hello everyone
I have an EEE PC running Windows XP, with a wireless connection via my Neuf box, which was working properly until this morning. After a system restore, my PC no longer detects any network, fortunately I had a wireless USB WiFi adapter and that works but I don't understand where the problem could be, does anyone have a solution?

Thank you Nephrite for your crucial help, I am following your assistance to reset my Eee PC Asus 900 without the help of an optical DVD drive, I am at the last phase of your plan, my USB key is connected to my Eee PC, I let the installation proceed on its own, but I then see the following on the screen:
X:\i386\system32>factory -winpe
X:\i386\system32>_

If you have any idea what I should do, could you please reply?

And if they don't have the Windows CD, they have UNR (Ubuntu Netbook Remix) which is free, virus-free, and no more defragmentations ever!

I think we need to see if you already have a recovery partition in order to perform the restoration.

To visualize this partition, you need software, which I can't remember. It's a recovery software.

Hello,
to see your recovery partition, right-click on 'This PC' and go to 'Properties/Manage/Disk Management'. There, you should see a partition with a total of about 4 to 9 GB.
So, if you do not have this partition, you cannot restore your Asus.

I have the same problem with my Asus Eee PC 900, no internet connection at all (it keeps loading and closes the window after 30 seconds, like a virus, well I'm not a pro), this has been happening since I tried to restore it following the examples from different people above. Because before I at least had my connection. However, I don't have sound anymore, nothing at all (well that's my fault, one day I wanted to make space because there was no capacity on this computer and like an idiot...yes yes I know!
I obviously don't have the CD to reinstall and I don't have a CD drive on the computer.
I would like to restore it to factory settings but I have the feeling it’s really an impossible mission!!!
Does anyone have a solution for me....not too complicated as I am certainly not a computer expert....after messing around with this computer that was brand new at the start, I messed everything up.

I just want to restore it to the way it was when I bought it and especially not to touch it anymore....right now it’s really annoying and unusable...

I own an EeePC 1000H.

After reading your suggestions, I tried a bit of everything. In the end, it simply worked by doing:

Pressing the reset button under the computer
Starting the PC with the reset held down
F9, with the reset still held down

The restoration started on its own.

I have an Asus Eee PC 1008HA, and I wanted to restore it, but the battery cannot be removed, and there’s no small hole... etc.

However, a combination of the F2/F9 keys allows you to launch the recovery program. I believe it’s F2 followed by F9 at the beginning of the start-up; you might need to test the timing, but I pressed F2 and then F9 right away.

That's it.

Some talk about their Asus Eee running XP while others respond based on their Asus EeePC running Linux!

There is an excellent post from Asus support a bit higher up for Asus XP.
For Linux, a few interesting addresses.

And I drown in my disdain for the guy who comes to mention his Ubuntu in passing! If one day he happens to have a breakdown with a Renault diesel, he would have a funny look on his face in front of a guy praising a petrol Peugeot instead of helping him fix it!

My radical solution for the new EEE PC running XP:  Restore a restore point!  Of course, on a PC that was only a week old, I didn't lose much data, but my connection fixed itself.
