No dealings over the Internet. Just scams!! So ask for a phone contact with the device of the person who sent you the email. They will not do it!! Don't go any further. This is indeed a scammer!
To find out where the email came from, check the IP address. You will already know where the message originated.
Search online for how to find the location of the computer used to send you the message.

Be careful with the verification... If a copy of the ID card has been sent to its legitimate owner (maybe 'gendarme') but there is a possibility of identity theft.. The gendarme having sent a copy to a scammer who in turn uses it for his own benefit..
If the number is in the form +44 70x yyyy it is a sure and certain scam! (Number redirected FLEXTEL..). If the person is in France, why then a U.K. number starting with +44..?
It's more than suspicious..

Caution... The only way to verify: find the phone numbers listed in the 'directorye and call Mr. X to talk to him about his vehicle... Or go through the Gendarmerie so that they can contact their supposed colleague (home or work..).

Je vois que mon premier message n'a pas bien pris, j'ai dû mal faire les manipulations. Voilà, je suis Brigitte Dupouy, mais mon prénom et mon nom de famille ne s'écrivent pas comme ça. Je suis victime de cet Éric Frégé, moi aussi. Il a réussi à faire une copie de mon passeport et à modifier ma date de naissance pour des soi-disant ventes de maison. Je ne connais pas du tout cet escroc, mais j'ai de suite porté plainte au commissariat et l'affaire est bien suivie, car je suis en contact avec la police qui m'a dit qu'ils me donneraient des nouvelles pour la suite. On me contactera. J'espère qu'ils mettront la main sur cet escroc. Cordialement.
