Connection of 2 switches

Hello,
Following some work done in our premises, we now have two switches, one per floor. We have the possibility to run only a few cables from one floor to another.
Our network is a very simple network.
Is there a way to connect two switches, one per floor, to create just one network? If so, how?

Yes, of course.
Be careful, for gigabit, you need a specific crossover cable.
For 10/100, a 2-pair crossover is enough.
But maybe, are your switches auto-MDI? If so, it's not complicated: only use straight cables.
Also,
If you're running a flying cable, you can use a crossover, but if you're installing a fixed cable (with female RJ45 connectors), you must use a straight cable.
Then you will cross with the small patch cord.
