Indeed, the French company rad means SOCIETE FRANCAISE DE RADIOPHONIE. I just received this information from SFR who confirmed that they changed their title.
They could have notified their clients!

I just received my statement and similarly, my SFR line has been charged under the name SFR Mobile and my parents' line under the name Société Française, even though it's the same account, so there must really be a problem.

Hello, I had a withdrawal of 52.99 euros, SFR + this withdrawal, with the description RAD! 58.91
I will check with my bank and have the withdrawals blocked on my account.
And I will just pay the usual bill by check.

Thank you for this great site. For a few months, I noticed this famous debit from "the French company RAD" on my bank statements. What on earth is that???? I was wondering what it could be, and as the months went by, I started to get worried. That's how I ended up on the "comment ça marche" site, and there I felt relief. Phew, it's just SFR, but for goodness' sake, they could at least notify us.

no panic, it is indeed the monthly direct debit from SFR
they just changed the title name but everything else regarding the bank direct debit authorization remains unchanged....
just check that there isn't a duplicate for the first transaction....
we'll have to get used to this new name RAD replacing SFR

I too was surprised to see a charge of €106.25 on my account from the French company RAD. I almost filed a complaint, but then I made the connection that it is indeed SFR which has developed its acronym. I called them, and they confirmed that it was correct. I told them that the least they could do was to inform their customers. Apparently, they will do so. But maybe this is a new way of doing business, namely: "THE INCORRECTNESS & THE INDIFFERENCE TOWARDS THE CLIENT." I leave that to your reflection!!!!

Like you, I was wondering who this French company RAD was.

I got some clarifications by reading your posts, and it perfectly matched my last bill in terms of date and amount, but it wasn't 100% certain since some of you continue to say it wasn't SFR after asking them.

I just found this on the SFR website at the bottom of their page by clicking on legal notices, which finally convinced me that it is indeed them:

They did indeed announce the name change, but they didn't allocate the same budgets or communication means as they do to sell their plans!

I won't hesitate to point out to them that it's not normal for such a large (and rich) company to not send a simple letter to inform us; it would have been so simple.

As for sending us advertising letters every other morning, they do cut down trees (just in case we don't have TV, internet, or radio).

Indeed, this is an SFR direct debit that appears on the bank statement as a direct debit from the RAD company, and as far as I'm concerned, I checked my SFR account, and the direct debit corresponds to my SFR bill for the month.
