TestLink Installation (using XAMPP)

Hello,

I need to install the TestLink software on my machine to test it and then create documentation.
The problem is that the download file is a .rar containing PHP scripts, and my knowledge of PHP, web servers, and DBMS is almost non-existent (actually, I mix everything up a bit, so please don’t blame me if I'm confused in my explanations).

For the installation, I apparently need to copy my installation file (containing my PHP scripts) to the web server.
Some websites recommend installing the XAMPP package beforehand.

My machine is connected to a network with a server (I think it has Apache as the web server). Will launching the XAMPP package allow me to install Apache locally on my machine (even if it is already on a remote server) and then put my file directly in the local directory without using FTP (thus avoiding touching the web server used by everyone)?

Thank you in advance for your responses.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.18

There is an error in a previous response.
“For your information, WAMP is for Windows, and XAMP is for Linux”
XAMPP is not for Linux
XAMPP stands for Cross Platform Apache PHP Perl
XAMPP exists for MacOS Unix (including Linux) Windows, etc.

Hello Rodrigue,

Just so you know, WAMP is for Windows, and XAMP is for Linux, so you need to install a WAMP server locally on your machine, https://www.wampserver.com/ and then you can follow this procedure:

Installation of WAMPServer 2.0 downloaded.

Copy the Testlink folder (downloaded and unzipped) (renamed to Testlink) into the www directory on c:\wamp
Launch the script via the URL http://localhost/testlink/install/index.php
Default installation

Accounts and passwords used and created:
root/no password
toto/no password

TestLink setup will now attempt to set up the database:

Creating connection to Database Server: OK!
Result:
Checking MySQL version: OK! (5.0.51 >= 4.1.0)

Database testlink does not exist.
Will attempt to create:
Creating database `testlink`: OK!
Creating Testlink DB user `jsoret`: OK! ( ok - new user)
Processing:sql/mysql/testlink_create_tables.sql

Importing StartUp data OK!
Writing configuration file: OK!

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE:
To have a fully functional installation, you need to configure mail server settings, following these steps
· copy from config.inc.php, [SMTP] Section into custom_config.inc.php.
· complete correct data regarding email addresses and mail server.

Installation was successful!
You can now log into TestLink (using login name: admin / password: admin - Please Click Me!).

Then have fun, I also need to test it and study its various features.
So you do not use your company's Apache server, but you stay local

Good luck!

Thank you for this explanation, which I applied, but in vain
actually, I get this message after agreeing to the terms of use:

File not found
Firefox cannot find the file at the address /C:/wamp/Testlink/install/<?php echo $_SESSION['page2launch'] ?>.
* The file may have been renamed, deleted, or moved?
* Is there a capitalization error, an accent, or another typographical error in the address?
* Do you have sufficient access permissions for this file?

Thanks again

Hello,

Would anyone have a list (not necessarily exhaustive) of the plugins that can be installed for TestLink, their application, and where to find them?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am doing a first-year internship after the baccalaureate focused on creating a unit testing platform. I need a little help regarding the internship report. I wish you an excellent day while I wait for your responses.
