Hello everyone,
I have a Takara GPV 1004 that works very well, except for the GPS!!!
When I press navi, it shows me "fatal error" Initialization error: No files were found in residentflash/igo/lang.
I don't know what to do, especially since it doesn't even read my SD card, as it crashes during the startup initialization, at "language."
Many GPS devices can be unlocked using ActiveSync........ I tried on the car radio, but I can't do it!!!
If I could unlock it, I would have access to resident flash and might be able to do something.....
If anyone knows how to connect it to my PC, or any other solution from the SD card, I'm all ears!
All your ideas are welcome, while I wait for a response from Takara, which is taking a long time (impossible to reach them, at least no technician available with each call!).
Thank you, see you soon.

Hello, I just found the problem after two hours of searching. Actually, let me explain. You create a file called lang in igo. You go find the language you want, copy it, so french.zip. Then you return to your removable disk and open the folder called examine. You enter this \ResidentFlash\igo\lang----------------------------
french.ZIP 115084 bytes
There you put the volume weight instead of 115084. -
I have a small issue with my Takara GPV 1004 GPS car radio; it won't accept the SD card, and there's a language error, etc.
Apparently, you might have found the solution, but I didn't quite understand it. Could you explain it to me better, please? -
Hello to the one who bought this GPS autoradio. I just want to know if we can listen to music while using the GPS?
Thank you. -
responses:
1) Yes, you can listen to MP3 or radio WITH the GPS. You can also connect screens for the kids in the back and play a DVD WITH the GPS or the radio (DualZone feature)
2) The SD card containing the iGO maps goes in the front slot! Not in the body slot!
3) The customer service number available on their site is a 04 and not a 0825
my questions ^^ :
1) I'm looking for someone who has succeeded in connecting an externally powered HDD via USB. Takara has assured me that some people have managed it, up to 320GB. It depends on the enclosure used; I need to know which brand is compatible.
2) I'm looking to hack the Windows CE inside to modify the interface because the menus are UGLY and there isn't even an equalizer with the radio :( If anyone has any ideas... -
Hi!
First of all, for the navigation issue (if the SD card hasn't been touched), you simply need to reset the car radio, and the navigation should work afterwards. Making a backup of the SD card can be useful.
Regarding Windows CE 5, it is possible to access it through a small program, but modifying the menu is difficult and time-consuming. -

Dear Stefan
Your SD card is full
Your car radio has internal memory, the ResidentFlash, and igo/lang is stored in there, not on the SD card.
That's how they prevent us from messing around and installing other versions.
The update must be done through their system; it requires specific configuration files and triggers in the SD cards that they should provide for this, and we can’t guess which ones, of course!
Finally, this dear 306takara talks about removable hard drives... I haven't managed to connect any to this damn car radio yet, despite following Takara's instructions. Is he talking about the internal drive? There isn’t one: just flash memory like in pocket PCs.
In fact, I don't even know what he's talking about! You can't copy files from the SD card to the ResidentFlash since you don’t have access to the internal FS and even less to the desktop of Windows CE 5.0 that runs this car radio!
Finally, I asked Takara when we would get version 8 of iGO like the one shown on the box (non-contractual photo!!) and still no response for 10 days.
I feel like Takara is pulling a Thomson on us with their crappy GPS420 and GPS280, no follow-up or user service, no updates...
GREAT! -
I managed to launch regedit on the Takara GPV1004 by replacing igo.exe with regedit.exe on the SD card, then forcing the application update, and finally starting navigation huhu ^^
However, it's impossible to modify the registry, those bastards reload it every time Windows CE starts...
What can I do? -
You need to go to the radio menu configuration, then click on update (it will be done from the SD card inserted in the device)
Best regards,

Hello, I have a GPS GPV 1040 and I'm experiencing navigation issues with a language error. How did you unlock yours?
-
Hello
I managed to "create" the FILE and not the Examine.txt folder. I added the line but it's not working!
Could a kind soul please post their working txt file on the forum so I can compare?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
For the language error, it seems to be a known issue and Norauto included an explanatory notice with its Takara GPV1004 saying to perform a certain manipulation, but I can't remember which one. Try contacting a store. -
Hello,
could you try to find this notice, please?
I contacted the store and they told me to get lost! Well, yes, I didn't buy it from them ;)
Thank you in advance.
Best regards. -
Hello,
The issue regarding the languages ("fatal error" Initialization error: No files were found in residentflash/igo/lang) has been resolved on Takara's website in the "support" section.
The procedure is simple and well explained... -
Hello,
I also have this problem with a Takara GPV 1040. I tried to find those famous notes on the Norauto and Takara websites, but I think they have been updated and I couldn't find anything.
Could someone share them and benefit everyone with the solution?
Thanks in advance to all!
