Hello,

I have been given an HP station with an APC UPS (Back-UPS RS 650).
The latter makes an unbearable continuous noise. Impossible to work. How can I remedy this?

On another note, I tried to remove the UPS, but my PC won't turn on. What should I do?

I have to say that I am a novice when it comes to UPS.

Thank you for your help
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

    Hello,

What noise does the inverter make? Hissing, crackling, rumbling?

Normally, the power outlets are standard, and you can unplug the cable that goes from the power outlet to the inverter and plug it back into the back of the computer.

      Good evening,

It's more of a continuous whistle (like a car horn but sharper).
I think (I hope I’m not saying something stupid) that it’s the inverter that’s discharged. How do you charge it in that case?

I tried to completely remove the inverter from my setup. I made a normal connection. The computer didn't want to turn on. Yet when connected to the inverter, the computer does turn on. Strange, isn’t it?

      Best regards

Whistling = battery in poor condition.

Is there a reset or rearm button on this inverter?

        Good evening,

the problem is solved. It's really simple, there was no power in the socket where I plugged in the UPS. That's why the PC didn't want to turn on when I removed the UPS.
Anyway, I thank you all for your concern.
