Momo: keep this in mind too, the GPS system works worldwide! You obviously need to have geo-referenced maps. Have you ever wondered how the Paris Dakar and other raids still navigate in Morocco, through desert areas? Here’s the answer: they use a GPS connected to a PC, and on this PC runs navigation software (for example, Oziexplorer) that accepts geo-referenced maps and indicates your position on that map, OR another more compact, easier system: a PDA (also a GSM under Windows Mobile equipped with GPS: HTC, etc...) with the same Oziexplorer software and calibrated maps, and it works perfectly!! (that’s what I use in Morocco)
For example, you can find a free version on the oziexplorer website, along with calibrated maps of all of Morocco on gpsmaroc.net. You can also geo-reference any map you have scanned or downloaded (but this requires a bit of practice and time if you want to cover an entire country!!)
Personally, I have been using these techniques for many years (and without wanting to attack our Moroccan friends, who have been discovering GPS for a few months), GPS and other alternatives have been available in Europe for over 10 years, so I think it's preferable to listen to the advice of experienced people. ...

If someone has already bought and tried the Morocco TomTom map and can tell me if the Morocco map is detailed for the city plans of Casablanca and Marrakech...

The same map is available for TomTom and other brands of GPS; it is currently the most comprehensive for Morocco.
On this same site, a Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS with this Morocco map is offered for just under 200 euros. The site contains the contact details of the Garmin representative in Casablanca (you can also purchase just the map in France for 60 euros).
