At Electro Dépot, the WALTHAM documentation is 99% in French only. A French law requires that at least the user manual be provided in French, not necessarily in other languages. For a TNT decoder that I just bought at Electro Dépot, they told me it is manufactured in Turkey, and there too, it's impossible to find the manufacturer.

I am English and my French is terrible. Please excuse me.
I bought a Waltham TV (CT3841DT) at Electrodepot, Perpignan, far from me. The outside of the box was in English. But at home, I found instructions in French only (why not!)
I need instructions in English.
Mitsubishi UK tells me that they (globally) do not make televisions

Now, I am angry. Who are Waltham? Why do they hide?

It is a Turkish manufacturer named Vestel. This company produces various brands (Waltham, Techwood, as well as some products under brands like Toshiba or Sharp) and also private label brands.

Indeed, Vestel manufactures for major brands like Toshiba, Sharp, JVC, Panasonic, Hitachi, Telefunken, but WARNING! These manufacturers impose their specifications regarding the quality of the components used. Vestel sells similar products under its own brand, but they don't necessarily have the same quality standards when it comes to components, which results in reliability that can be questionable.
The same goes for all the sub-brands of the major manufacturers, regardless of the product. Reliability and quality come at a price! (even if for some products, you pay a bit too much for the brand)
For my part, I'd rather spend an extra €50 on a recognized brand than risk having my product break down after a few months..
