Go check out the ECM/GED Freedom http://www.frdom.org/

It's in French and you can even download a VMWare virtual machine to tinker with the thing, and since it's GPL you can get your hands dirty :))

You can use the private (free) version of Novaxel, which works very well with the Wine utility.
