the target account name is incorrect Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a problem accessing the computer on my Windows 2000 server.
I get the following message: \\serveur1 is not accessible. Logon failure: the target account name is incorrect when I click on the computer "serveur1" in network favorites then the domain.

However, when I connect to the network drive by typing \\192.168.4.1\partage I can access the share, but by typing \\serveur1\partage I get the following error: Unable to find the network path \\serveur1

Additionally, from my server, I can see and access all PCs on the network, but these PCs can see the server computer but cannot access the server computer.

Yet the pings to the server work, and the pings to the PCs on the network work using both IP addresses and the names of the PCs, so the DNS is functioning properly.

Can you help me?

Yes, the DNS is working correctly because I pinged the IP address and the name of the PC on the network and everything matches well.

I can ping my main server with its IP address and with its name, as well as the secondary server.

I will keep searching.

Are you sure your DNS is properly configured?  It's the DNS that makes the link between the name (server1) and the IP address;

I think you need to enable printer and file sharing in your connection to your server if you want your server to see you.

Control Panel, Network Connections, right-click on your connection, and then check file and printer sharing.

[Resolved]  I connect to the network drive by typing \@server IP\share and I can access the share.

I have the same problem between two domain controllers: the secondary one cannot join the primary. It’s as if these two controllers were on separate domains. However, clients must be able to access the server.. I don’t have that problem. Otherwise, the DNS configurations are not set up properly; try adding multiple DNS from the controllers and then interchange them... For replication issues, I managed to solve them with the following two keys in HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\NTDS\parameters
1) Allow Replication With Divergent and Corrupt Partner with a value of 1 allows replication despite issues (create it if it’s not there)
2) Strict Replication Consistency: this one should be deleted
