Hello everyone,
I've been experiencing an issue recently with EBP Gestion Commercial V8; when I open my file, it shows me "error code 161 the maximum number of user licenses has been reached." I have already tried reinstalling the program, without success. The problem appeared suddenly, and I haven't changed any settings or installed EBP on another PC... Google is silent on this, many people are in my situation but no solution so far (for now, I'm counting on you!)
Thanks everyone!
Gérald

As an EBP technician, error code 161 means that the maximum number of licenses has been reached. This error code is related to the database engine license of Pervasive...
IF you are on a network, please ensure that this engine is uninstalled and reinstalled properly. By properly, I mean using the Pervasive System Analyzer for uninstalling the engine. You will find the database engine available on the publisher's website. Do not download anything other than what is provided by EBP, namely version 8.6 in a peer-to-peer version.
To clarify a bit more, it is the license.xml file that is causing you problems and can be checked via the Pervasive License Administrator utility....
Please note that Pervasive is activated with the activation of the commercial management. If the engine is on a file server in a peer-to-peer version, it remains in evaluation mode and will be available for only 2 months; after that, it locks completely, and you will get the infamous error code.
As for the Update PV8 file, do not respond to a post like this by citing this file without knowing what it is for. It simply allows, in the case of older versions like V8, to check the active licenses of the database engine. It will not correct the encountered problem.
To summarize, remove the engine using System Analyzer, which is available in "Start" "All Programs" "Pervasive System Analyzer," and reinstall the engine after rebooting the computer. You must have a commercial management system installed and activated on the same PC; otherwise, the problem will persist.

Hi!
The update for the Program Files/Ebp directory is not yielding anything.
I think I'm going to invest in the Commercial Management Pro V12 update.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Best regards.

So? Has no one ever encountered the problem? (And by the way, does anyone have a solution to propose?) :)
Thank you all.

Thank you all.

I have never encountered this error with clients, so I don’t have any specific solution. You have 3 options left:
1/ call the EBP hotline for a fee
2/ wait until October and upgrade to version 13 (your version is too old) where there are quite a few new features.
3/ don’t change anything

Hello,
I'm bringing up this old post because I'm currently facing this problem:
Co-Management with 4 workstations
Let me summarize the situation, I am in St. Martin in the Caribbean, so the log is in dual currency €-$, and we don't have VAT.
Three weeks ago, the server crashed, restarted, and all the workstations started showing errors. I contacted EBP, of course, and they said the log needs to be changed, no problem... but you need a special version that is not downloadable and requires an approved installer to come, okay no worries!!! It's been 10 days since I've been waiting for the quote from the installer in Guadeloupe.
While browsing forums and others, the server workstation is functioning normally but the others are not. Problem 161... on the server, I have attempted several times the procedure with "pervasive license administrator" as described in this link:
http://support.unit4venice.be/fr/index.php/problemes-eventuels-avec-la-gestion-de-donnees-pervasive/
The "temporary" licenses disappear at the moment but it's just visual, I have a good fifteen of them.
I also tried the date manipulation in 2027.
So do you have any idea or know how I can remove these license lines?
I do have genuine licenses for each workstation!!
Best regards,

Good evening,
faced with the same issue for one of my clients, I found a complementary solution:
proceed as furaxou specifies in his 2011 post (uninstall using the utility), BUT before launching the reinstallation of the pervasive engine, change the system date of the PC (add 10 years)
restart the computer
reinstall
restart again and set the correct date
why:
the reinstallation of the engine generates a temporary license of just a few days; cheating on the expiration date allows you to work around the issue
