Question

Hello, I am working in Open Office Calc and I need to calculate the time between a date, today and December 31 of the current year
ex entered date, calculation as of today calculation as of 31/12
thank you for your help

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello,
Just passing by, current year date in "A1", today's date in column B1
and the result in "C1" =$A$1-B1 (extend the formula down the column if necessary)
Example: A1=31.12.08, B1=13.07.08 .... result C1 = 171 (number of days)

You name the cell where you want to enter the start date "DATE", and the cell where you enter your end date (31/12/08, 31/12/09, or other) "FIN".

Your formulas will be =TODAY()-DATE and =FIN-DATE.

Of course, your results are in days! If you want them in years, you need to divide by 365.

With a duration in days in cell C4, you will get a clearer reading in D4 with the formula:
=INT(C4/365) & " years and " & C4-(INT(C4/365)*365) & " days".
If this formula scares you, you can break it down by inserting a column that you will hide later, for example, column W. In W4, enter =C4/365; in W5, enter =INT(W4)*365; in W6, enter =C4-W5; then your formula in D4 will be =INT(W4) & " years and " & W6 & " days"!

So I’ll start again, but I’ll shorten it; too bad for you!
I subtracted N*365 from the number of days to get W6, the number of surplus days.
If you want to continue, just divide this result by 30: In W7 you’ll have the number of months =INT(W6/30).
And in W8 you’ll have =W6-W8*30 left.
If I didn’t suggest this, it’s because there are 2 small issues:
- not all months have 30 days
- if W6<30, the result displayed will look like 2 years, 0 months, and 24 days.
