PS3 Update via USB Drive

Hello everyone

I managed to update my PS3 to version 2.53 using a USB stick
Here's the procedure to follow:
- Format the USB stick to FAT 32
- Create a PS3 folder at the root of the USB stick
- Create an UPDATE folder inside the PS3 folder
- Copy the update file (downloaded from the internet) into the UPDATE folder

Plug the USB stick into the PS3
and there you go?

Hi, I have an MP3 that serves as a storage key, so I emptied everything into it. I created a folder called PS3, and then within that folder, I created another one called UPDATE, and in that folder, I put my update 2.53. Then I went to the settings on the PS3 / system update / storage key, and there you go, the console did the rest. I hope I helped you.

The file must be named PS3UPDAT.PUP.

Hello. I checked several forum sites because I'm having trouble updating my PS3 to "2.53". However, I went to the PS3 website and downloaded the update, but HERE'S THE PROBLEM:

I go to SYSTEM UPDATE THEN STORAGE MEDIA, AND IT DOES NOT READ THE UPDATE THAT I PUT ON MY USB CABLE. I checked the forums to find a solution and they say to put everything in uppercase and create the folders PS3/UPDATE in UPPERCASE as well.

But it still doesn't work.

QUESTION:

HOW DO I GET MY UPDATE 2.53, WHICH IS ALREADY ON MY USB CABLE, TO BE READ IN "SYSTEM UPDATE"?

I just updated to 3.01. I put the file at the root of my USB drive but it didn't work. I then followed the advice on this forum and created a folder called PS3 at the root, which contains another folder called UPDATE (all in uppercase). I dragged my file into the latter, and then... BINGO! It works.

Is your USB stick plastic or does it have a metal casing?
I have noticed that on some devices, USB sticks with a plastic tip are invisible, while USB sticks with a metal tip are more easily recognized...

Another question: have you formatted your USB stick to FAT32? If not, it won't work

In your USB stick, create a folder titled in uppercase PS3, inside that folder, create a folder that will be titled UPDATE also in uppercase, in which you will copy/paste your downloaded PUP format file
updated by storage file and it should work...
