Samsung HT-Z210 issue (displays "protect") Solved

Question

Hello,  When I turn on my Samsung HT-Z210 home theater, it displays "hello...." (so far so good) but then it shows the word "protect" and then it turns off!  Help!  Any ideas?  Thanks

I have a SAMSUNG Home Cinema DVD player, and I also encountered the issue of getting the "PROTECT" message and the player shutting down afterwards. I tried various manipulations like pressing stop for 5 to 8 seconds when the player is on standby, then turning it back on, but all that displays in addition after loading is a "576p" message, then the protect message returns and the player shuts down. Can someone please help me? Thank you very much.

I tried holding down the "stop" button for more than 5 seconds as indicated in the manual and on the forum, but to no avail.

Hi,

I finally found the solution by myself like a big boy. It's been 2 years that this has been dragging on, so I opened the lid, and in the middle of the device, there is a small white connector with several words related to sound, like "mute," etc., and there's "protect." I took a small screwdriver and pressed on the corresponding gray tab, and it works. I'm so happy! Give it a try, it doesn't cost anything.
PS: of course, unplug your device.

Hello,

I had this issue with my product, which is still under warranty. I just picked it up repaired. According to the report, they changed the power supply and the motherboard.

That said, on your own, you can't do anything about it. I went to Reparaction in Paris, at St Sebastien Froissart metro station, they are a Samsung authorized center. They also repair products that are not under warranty (they will give you a quote).

Hi, I have a Samsung HT-X20 for over a year and suddenly it displays protection and shuts down... I tried several things suggested in forums but it kept happening; I opened the cover and found it was hot inside even though the fan was working; I left it without the cover and put a fan next to it and it no longer does that!

I just sent it back to Samsung and they are going to send me the new model since they no longer produce this one...

I have a Samsung HT-Z210 that I am very satisfied with. But I have seen that many of you have this 'PROTECT' mode issue and wanting to anticipate a possible failure, I did some research online. Several UK and Australian sites say that in most cases, the problem comes from the speaker connection being short-circuited. So you need to disconnect all of them and check the condition of the terminals both at the plug and at the speaker side. They also say that the wires themselves can be the cause. Finally, there are some cases (about 30%) where it is something else, and then: off to customer service.  I hope this information has been helpful to you.  Cheers!

Salut, ça va ? J'ai eu le même problème. Pour enlever la protection, tu débranches ton home cinéma, après tu le remonte. Tu débranches toutes les connexions, même ça. Dans 30 secondes, tu rebranches tous les composants. Après ça, ça remarche.

I replaced it, it’s the same, but when you unplug the connection ribbon between the amplifier board and the one where the DVD player is, it lights up without going into protect mode. So apparently there’s a little faulty component under the heatsink on the amplifier board. Here’s an address for 53 euros including tax delivered. I haven’t ordered it yet; I’m waiting to be a bit more sure.

J'ai le même problème avec le HTX20, qui est un bon produit rapport qualité-prix, mais il y a un composant qui a grillé et ça a fait griller deux autres. Que faire ? Car il n'est plus sous garantie, donc je voudrais avoir les schémas techniques de l'appareil pour pouvoir identifier les composants et les remplacer. Ayant fait quelques études en électronique, j'en serais capable, mais les composants grillés, impossible de savoir ce que c'est ?????????

I have the same problem with the Samsung HT-X20 home cinema. When I watch a DVD or a DivX via USB, it holds up, but as soon as I want to play music or switch to auxiliary, it cuts off after 20 minutes.

I also noticed that the fan speed varied. By putting my hand behind it, I realized that the fan was blowing, I took the fan apart and turned it around, and apparently, it works well now.

Hello everyone, I found the solution for my ht-x30. I unplugged all the cables and connectors except for the power one, waited 30 seconds, then unplugged it. I reconnected everything and powered it back on, and the "protection" message disappeared.

I simply threw this crap in the trash, I bought another one from a more reliable brand!
According to the forums, this is common
crappy radio,
breakdown after a year and a half, (protect)
remote control: a real hassle
compatibility issue with the television (Samsung)

Hello friends,
Finally a solution to protect on the TZ315, but maybe applicable to others!!

I had this problem on the TZ315. After taking some measurements on the power supply board located on the right side of the reader towards the front. Immediately at the beginning on the left is a connector with about fifteen flat wires. In white, on the board, there are inscriptions +8, GND, +5, +5, +3.3, +3.3, GND, GND, P/S, P-O,
+5, GND, VFD+, VFD-, -32.
It's very simple, just disconnect all external connections (speakers, etc.) and temporarily connect with a small wire one of the two +5 to the standalone +5, Be careful not to get it wrong!! Then power it on and turn it ON.
Wait for the Hello and the rest. If everything goes well, remove this small wire and put it back in service.
During measurement, both 5V show 0V and the standalone one shows +5V.
By re-powering these 5V terminals which are at 0 by forcing them, it allows you to power the memory in a roundabout way, and the protect is erased. To restore overload protections, the small wire must be removed and the connections reinstated.
From a good tinkerer in electronics!

On my Samsung HTZ210 home theater, the volume level decreased by itself, then at times it showed a "protect" message. I found the SWR60 resistor burnt out. I replaced it with a 470-ohm resistor, and now everything works. Be careful, this one heats up quite a bit, which is why everyone encounters problems, so when replacing the resistor, I recommend using a more powerful resistor (larger size) and avoiding soldering it too close to the circuit board (the heat generated will dissipate much more effectively).

Hi, this morning I had the same problem with my HTZ215, the amp starts then shows protect and turns off. I took off the cover, then unplugged the connector on the fan/motherboard side and unplugged the power connector/motherboard, then reconnected everything and it works perfectly.

But I was able to solve my problem (unable to eject the DVD with the message 'lock' on the Samsung HT-E330 Home Theater. I just pressed the eject button on the player for several seconds and the message 'unlock' appeared.
