Reset the playstation 2

Hello,
could anyone tell me how to reset the PlayStation 2 because I have a problem with the parental controls for a game. I have already inserted a DVD and gone into the parental controls settings, but it does not come up highlighted, and when I click on it, it doesn't allow me to go to "enter a new code." So, I would need to reset the PlayStation...? Thank you.

It might be useful for someone in the future. You need to enter the code 7444 and then type a new one.
