Black bar on the screen!!!

Hello,

Since I formatted and reinstalled a new Windows XP SP2, I have a black band on the right side of the screen. I've searched many forums, but I can't find a solution to my problem. I tried updating my drivers (NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics card), but it says there are no new updates, even though I haven't installed any drivers for the graphics card since the format.

The black band is not over the screen (I can see the time without any problem); it simply seems like the screen has shrunk in size.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100. Here’s what I have with Everest Home:

I tried upgrading the BIOS but apparently that didn't work, and I don't know why. I did create a floppy disk and booted the PC from it, and it said the BIOS had been upgraded, which is not the case.
Could my problem be related to that?

Hello everyone, I think I have the solution. I had a black band at the top and bottom of the screen. I struggled but I found it.
You need to go to the control panel: then change the screen resolution: then advanced: then choose plug and play screen and click ok. It goes back to display properties, screen resolution 1152 by 864, check desktop as the main monitor and then ok. If it's good, select yes, otherwise no, before the end of the 10 seconds. Screens 1 and 2 should be blue. And it should work normally. Good luck and don't hesitate to do it several times if it doesn't work.

Ah yes, I have an 8800 GTX graphics card and I activated the ndvision panel something, I could "recalibrate" my screen by clicking on arrows to move it a bit more to the right, but when it moved to the right, the black bar remained and... and I still have the same problem.

Well, here it is, in any case I managed to solve the problem and it was... very easy...

I spent hours trying to adjust my screen but actually you don't have to change the format or anything, you just have to click on... the "auto" button (at least for me) on the computer screen to adjust the screen, and yes it's silly but you had to think of it.

I have an Acer Extensa 5510, and I also have this problem of a black band on my screen, it’s about 7cm wide.
At the bottom, where the "start" bar is, there’s a sort of bug, I don't know if it's due to the screen or the graphics card. I have done everything regarding the drivers: updates, reinstallations, and still nothing. Yesterday, Windows Update did its periodic update, suddenly the screen became normal, and then this morning when I turned my PC back on, the same problem occurred. So I tried to check in the "Device Manager" and I found a yellow exclamation mark next to the display controller "INTEL (R) 82865G Microsoft Corporation XDDM". I tried to update the drivers and still nothing, I ran a diagnostic on Touslesdrivers.com without success.... :-(

Please try to give me some solutions.

Hello, about a month ago, I managed to remove that pesky black strip that appeared on the right side of the screens of my two Toshiba laptops (same model) after reinstalling XP2.
Anyway, how did I do it? Well, simply by uninstalling the graphics card from the PCs. I went into the control panel and instead of updating the hardware, I uninstalled it. It's true that there is a question mark in that menu, but at least I no longer have that strip that was so annoying...
It's up to you to see, plus it works the same way, so (maybe I'm wrong, but hey, it's nice to have the full screen, lol)

Hi, when I installed XP2, that's when I had this issue, so I uninstalled the driver for the card by rolling back to the previous version (I think), and there you go, no more black bars on the side. I hope this helps you,

besides, this doesn't remove the other updates for the other drivers, just the one for the video card in my opinion.

Hello,
I recently downloaded a war game, and when the game started, the screen went completely black with "Auto Adjust" written in the center. Since then, whenever I exit the game, a black bar has appeared shifting the entire screen to the left. I tried changing the resolution; I lowered it, but it’s too big now and I can’t leave it like that. I then uninstalled the game and deleted it, but the bar is still there. I don't know much about graphics cards and all that stuff, so if there’s an easy solution that seems obvious to you, please let me know! ;D

Hello everyone, I have a black bar about 7 cm on the right side of my screen. I’ve tried multiple solutions I found online but nothing works (I've been looking for 3 days). However, I noticed that when I connect my laptop (Compaq NC 6320) to another screen, there’s no black bar (on the other screen). Back to the actual screen of my laptop, I took a screenshot and the black bar isn’t there, while I can see it on my screen. Furthermore, the colors on my screen are somewhat blurred.

I had the same thing happen to me, and while tinkering with my screen, I accidentally unplugged the power cord! I plugged it back in, and after that, no more black band!

To set the desktop or wallpaper to full screen in Windows 7, you need to:
right-click on the desktop

So here it is, I managed to find a solution since I don't have an auto button and the other responses were not readable, so anyway, right-click on the screen, you will find several options but you need to click on screen adjustment, this will also present you with 3 options, you click on "full screen" (without borders).
