Projector connection with Canalsat

Hello, I have a PANASONIC PT-AX200E projector. It has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 YUV input, 1 VGA, and one S-video input.
My Canalsat receiver only has a SCART output. I tried connecting my projector to the receiver using S-video + a SCART/S-video adapter, but the image appears in black and white. Additionally, this way I don't know how to manage the sound
I have a home cinema that also has an S-video output in addition to the SCART. Here, there’s no problem; it works fine.

Maybe I can go through my home cinema to connect Canalsat??

If anyone knows how I can watch Canalsat on my projector, enjoying color and sound, I would be grateful.

Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

        1) solution to the viamarty problem
        2) solution to the hdmi/VGA(rgb) or dvi-d/VGA(rgb) problem

        1) Here is the solution for your viamarty problem:
Your decoder has a scart connector.
If this only outputs rca yellow (yellow video or composite), then there is no solution for s-video, however, if your scart can output s-video, then you need to do the following:
        - go into the configuration menus of the decoder to set the scart to s-video (and not video, rca, or composite as it is often set by default)
        - buy (<35 euros) an adapter that converts the scart (input) --> s-video (output). ATTENTION, and not the reverse, otherwise it’s useless to buy it. Often there is a small switch to indicate which way the adapter should be used, otherwise take the correct adapter depending on the direction.
        - connect the adapter to the decoder and connect an s-video cable (adapter side) --> s-video (projector side).
        - finally, on the projector select the s-video input as the source in its menus.
        And that's it.

        2) Here is the solution to send hdmi or dvi-d to VGA:

Well, I found the hd fury adapter/converter.

        You can find it here:
        - http://www.arcalide.com/HD-FURY-1080p-blue-edition-p-49.html
        - http://www.divineo.fr/cgi-bin/div-fr/vid-hdf

or even cheaper (in us dollars too, so even cheaper in euros)

(be careful with the power supply, the company is Californian)

Also check if an external power supply is necessary and if so, whether it is included with the adapter which doesn't seem obvious.
Be careful, if it’s for connecting a game console, it seems that the external power supply may be unnecessary. And in this case, there is even a specific cable that exists.

It should be noted that this solution requires another simple and basic hdmi/dvi adapter if the tv decoder only has an hdmi output.

P.S.: On my side, I am looking for a store in Paris and its region for the hd fury mentioned here.

Yes, I saw. It's true that this receiver has an HDMI output, but what about the sound, how do I do it???

    Hi mouadib71

ask your provider to change the decoder for you, they have digital models for HD broadcasts
and that should fix your problem.
    best regards

    By the way mouadib71
there's another inexpensive alternative (but not digital) you can find SCART/YUV cables that are cheap.
    take inspiration from this link

Alright, so I connect the YUV jack managing the home cinema amplifier and the other jacks to my video projector. Hoping that my home cinema will accept a YUV connection since it only has traditional RCA inputs.
However, I don't see how to deal with HDMI because even though it carries the sound, my video projector doesn't handle it. It only deals with video!!!

My bad, it seems that YUV only transmits video unlike RCA. It's true that these solutions would allow me to get color images but there's still the sound issue. My home theater receiver needs to play the sound at the same time the channel receiver sends the image to the video. That must be possible!!
I'll refine this while waiting for someone to share any ideas, don't hesitate. Thank you.

    To summarize mouadib71

Scart/YUV cable between decoder and video projector.
And the audio output from the decoder to the audio input of the amplifier.
There you go, it's not difficult.
    See you later

I finally managed to connect my audio output (which of course I hadn't seen) to my amplifier.
I still have a small problem (it would have been too nice).
I got a scart > YUV cable, I made the connections, and nothing!!!
I specifically bought this cable: http://cgi.ebay.fr/CABLE-PERITEL-RGB-YUV-vers-3-RCA-YUV-10-m_W0QQitemZ180243468295QQihZ008QQcategoryZ137928QQcmdZViewItem
On the documentation of the projector, as well as on its back, it says next to these red, green, blue inputs: Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr
I didn't dream it, it really is a YUV component input!!
Here’s a link with the different inputs of my projector:

If someone could help me, I would be very grateful during this Euro season!!!

After fiddling around for some time, I discovered that my cable worked when I connected it to my DVD player, but for some reason the picture was blue and not very clear.

I then tried my luck with an S-video cable. I was able to get a signal every time, but in black and white. The only time I managed to get color was when I played a DVD from my DVD player.
I then tried using my player as a relay, meaning I connected my satellite decoder to the player and plugged my S-video cable into the player, but once again the image appeared in black and white.

If anyone knows the reason for these issues, it would be nice if they could help me!!!

(As for me, I think it's simply a compatibility issue with the signals and the cables: my output signals may not be compatible with YUV or S-video. Someone who knows these technologies well should be able to respond to me quite easily. I don't know them well, and I need to understand the cause in order to remedy the problem.)

      Hello,

      The solution is very simple.

To connect a Peritel output to an S-video input, several things are needed:
      - have a suitable cable, or more easily an adapter (Peritel/S-video) with the S-video to S-video cable, but be careful, the adapter must allow the reversal of the signal (Peritel out to S-video in and vice versa) because often this will not work as the cable will only do the reverse (S-video out to Peritel in).
      - in addition to a bi-directional adapter, the source (Peritel in) must be set up to output S-video via the Peritel and not RGB (RGB in French for red green blue) as they often do by default.

In other words, with a Neuf box TV for example, you can ask its Peritel to output RGB (default) or S-video, whereas on a Dartybox TV, those idiots have not planned (nor allowed) to output S-video from the Peritel!

I still salute the good will of the entire Darty team, their sense of service, and their relatively high internet speed!

      Is it clearer?

      Good luck.
