Big scrollbar issue

Question

Hello, I'm not the best at using a computer and I have a problem with my scroll bar. It keeps going down and up by itself! I really don't know what to do!! Is there a way to fix this?? Please help me! A girl who struggled to write her message because of her bar that moves by itself...

Hi  I also have the same issue. Whether it’s on the internet or the system, as soon as there’s a scrollbar, it starts to shake frantically until I can no longer read or write. I noticed that if you point the mouse cursor over a link, it triggers the problem. This is getting worse and worse... I tried with another mouse, tested the mouse on another computer; it’s not the mouse. I ran two antivirus programs, two anti-spyware programs, one anti-trojan, and nothing works. No response from the various tech support... I formatted once and it calmed down, but it came back... so if anyone has found a solution before I throw the PC out the window... I’m all ears.

hi  Have you tried changing your mouse? I suppose you have a mouse with a scroll wheel?  I have the same problem, so I tap it a bit on the desk and it works again, but if you can't do anything anymore, change your mouse....  Good luck

Hello everyone, Warning! It smells like a virus. But also due to a false manipulation with the mouse wheel. If you press it, the cursor turns into a circle with 4 arrows (top right, bottom left) and by moving the mouse on the pad, it scrolls the page. Useful in some cases. Hello, I've had the same issue for 3 weeks, and I can't find the cause.  Suddenly, the scrollbar moves like crazy.  I've searched the websites, but found nothing.. I don't think it's a mouse problem.  If anyone has an idea, I would also be interested.   Perrine

I launched the anti-trojan .. nothing I launched an online antivirus .. nothing and my scrollbar keeps crashing .. any other ideas?  Have a nice day!

the problem: it goes up and down by itself, randomly, at any time. we can slightly control the movement with the mouse but it keeps happening; sometimes it calms down... all the scrollbars are affected...

not the mouse, that's for sure. its driver is standard win driver. it's definitely a little bug. but virus or false virus of little sh...  I don't see where it could have gone, I don't even know what to look for.

re.. tugudal, 1) the standard Windows driver is sufficient to operate it. But not to optimize it.. It does not cause, unless it is itself infected (?), similar misbehaviors... 2) check, if it is a wireless mouse, the status of the batteries.. 3) be careful with the keyboard-mouse connections... It happens that it works, even when swapped, but a little less well, of course!!!  Best regards and @+ Better to free ten kings than to condemn an innocent.

The scroll bar moves on its own because the wheel sensor is damaged or just dirty. To fix it, simply disassemble the mouse and clean the sensor in front of the wheel. @+

I had a similar problem with a Logitech on a USB/PS2 adapter. I replaced the Microsoft USB/PS2 adapter with a generic one and it works again. It seems that the Microsoft PS2 adapter doesn't have all the pins (specifically the 6th). Hopefully this can help some people on this forum. See you!

I'm in deep trouble!  Same thing as everyone here, my scrollbar is uncontrollable: it goes up and down at lightning speed! I had this problem a month ago and then nothing until today when it starts again! My antivirus finds nothing. When I go to the mouse properties, the computer tells me that the device is working properly. However, my folder C:/WINDOWS/cursors/ is empty, it must have been deleted.  I'm almost convinced that I've caught a virus which, once identified, will probably be called "the shoemaker's cat". lol  My PC is going to be formatted and I hope the problem will be resolved. It's driving me crazy. It's enough to make you disgusted with the internet. Luckily I have a laptop to talk to you, otherwise it would be mission impossible.  HELP ME

Same for me, the bar goes down by itself and I must have caught this on a site because my antivirus blocked a trojan but a script was executed  What to do ??? HELP !!!

Hello,  I have the same problem. In addition to the scrolling issue, it also affects the sound when I watch a DivX. It decreases and increases on its own. I suspect a problem with the mouse (scroll wheel). I will check this evening if the sound slider of my player is controlled by the wheel. Has anyone tried unplugging the mouse? Does the problem persist? I’ve also browsed English websites but found nothing.  This is really annoying. We need to find something.  Thank you.

Hello everyone, same problem as you all. Trojan and virus tests negative. By any chance, are you using a Logitech mouse? I'm experiencing this issue on several PCs, all equipped with Logitech mice. It might be a driver problem.   Thank you for responding to help move the issue forward.

Hello everyone,  Same problem as everyone else except that I’m using Kaella Linux behind a good firewall, the problem appeared with a Logitech mouse and then I tested with another optical Microsoft mouse (with a USB/PS2 adapter) and after rebooting and ten minutes of testing, it hasn’t reappeared...  I'm going to try to disassemble and clean the Logitech mouse.

Hi!!  Same problem, I'm on a laptop and I've tried with the touchpad, same issue, so it's not a mouse problem.. it's quite a hassle! The reboot didn't change anything.. antivirus, spybot, and ad aware found nothing...  If anyone else is having the same issue.... thanks!

Hello,  For your information, I've had the same problem for the past 15 days, no trojans as they were all removed three weeks ago by Kaspersky demo, installed after those damn trojan bugs completely got rid of my NOD32 antivirus, which I had a lot of faith in.   (I had read on a forum that it didn't let much through but I discovered, thanks to the technician I paid to recover a lost partition, that NOD32 is not equipped with self-protection! That's really not good at all!!!)   So I'm looking for answers everywhere too...  I tried searching on the Windows forums but I haven't found the topic yet! Strange, I might have phrased my question poorly, yet reading through this page, a lot of people have the problem. So I’m going to insist by calling the scrollbar, maybe I’ll find some topics?   My mouse is not a Logitech, it’s a "db boeder" optical one, at least 3 years old. I dismantled it and indeed found some dust bunnies and a hair! Yes, yes... After cleaning and testing everything was fine, I was happy but the next day it happened again!   I tried with the new mouse bought for my laptop. Everything was fine during the usage period.   So I will, in the first instance, buy a new one for the PC and will keep you updated if that’s the solution.   For your information, tonight after an hour of my scrollbar acting up, the game calmed down and it was with complete peace that I was able to write this post! But for how long, mystery, especially since the antics of the scrollbar are not regular in speed, sometimes the movements are very fast with a drop all the way down without any control, sometimes quite slow and jerky but controllable! A real headache.  Good luck, we will have it "one day".

I have the same issue. But as soon as I unplug my keyboard, everything works fine except that I have to write all my texts using the virtual keyboard, and it's really a hassle. So, virus issue or other Trojan, I don't know.

Hello,   I no longer have the problem because I changed my mouse, which I had thoroughly cleaned. But the problem persisted. There must have been an electronic issue, a contact, or something else...   I bought another mouse of the same type (optical but from Microsoft) and connected it to the same port as the old one to see if it might be the socket (the one I can't remember the name of, is it round?) and there you go, the crazy scrolling bar is gone.   So it’s probably your keyboard that’s acting up in your case! If possible, try plugging in another one.   Just to remind you, I also got really scared about viruses or trojans, but apparently that’s not the case. Good thing.   I hope it will be the same for you too.

Hello everyone  I've been having a similar problem for a week (HP PC). The scrollbar on the right starts moving by itself after about 15 minutes of use and becomes unusable after 30 minutes. All drop-down menus are affected, and this happens with any software (IE, Word, etc...).  The only solution is to restart...  The discussions on this site provide some ideas, but no miracle solution!   Thank you if you have any new information on the subject.

Hello everyone   I had the same problem with my mouse, don't worry it's neither a trojan nor anything else. If you have an antivirus like Kaspersky, it doesn't let anything through. Not even hardware or hackers.  For those with a Logitech wireless mouse: remove the battery for a moment, you'll see that the scrolling stops, because in this way, you reset the mouse's firmware (the brain of the mouse).  For those with different mice, unplug your mouse and see what happens for a moment, restart your system. Then plug the mouse back in and restart again, a driver update will happen automatically through your operating system.   Thank you all. same problem with a wireless Logitech (pack with keyboard).  Reinstalling Windows had no effect! I have already disassembled the mouse to clean the wheel and the optical part... It doesn't change anything. I have the impression that it is a hardware issue (mouse or sensor). Moving the receiver changes it a bit but not completely.  If I use a wired mouse, there is no problem!!!

Using Smitfraudfix and cleaning up unnecessary files, cookies, and "TEMP" files resolved my annoying screen instability issue. The pages were shaking up and down, and the arrow and scrollbar were moving down on their own, whether online or in word processing, to the point that I had difficulty typing. I'm on XP and Kaspersky. The people at a famous multimedia store told me I needed to change the graphics card, what a joke. In fact, it was enough to tidy things up. Good luck.

It's also the mouse. I thought I was done thanks to Smitfraud and others, and then the jitters came back. I have an old Logitech wireless mouse, about three years old. On my laptop, it’s enough to disconnect the mouse, whether by removing the USB key/mouse or turning off the mouse, for all instability to stop.

Listen guys, I'm not registered but without meaning to, I accidentally slid my mouse to the top of the taskbar and clicked the left button, and now the size is locked. What should I do...   Also, when I scroll down, the normal size isn't there anymore.    Actually, I had the modes: taskbar pinned and "raised" taskbar as I call it, meaning  a little more raised. Hi everyone, I had this problem until now:  Crazy scrolling bar => I thought it was my mouse, so I unplugged it: Problem solved! But it sucks to have to buy a new mouse, so I tried a bunch of things like plugging in my receiver while turning off the mouse => Same problem... I figured it might be a key on the keyboard stuck... But no. Through total illogic, I removed the batteries from my keyboard (just a little reset ^^) and MAGIC! No more problems ^^  I hope I helped you =p

Hello everyone, I solved the problem by changing the mouse. I think that wireless mice that have experienced the slightest bump or shock are the cause of this issue. Remove the USB plug from the wireless mouse and see the result :)

Hi, I had a similar problem and I think it's a little virus...
But for me, the problem goes away by itself as soon as I turn off the wireless connection :D
(With Fn + F3)
And as soon as I turn it back on, the problem doesn't come back ^^
But it does come back from time to time unfortunately and I have to redo the manipulation but it's better than nothing!
