Open an unnamed file received by email

Hello,
How to open a file received by email, titled unnamed, with Windows Vista?
I tried downloading it and then opening it, but I get a response saying the file is invalid.
Thank you for giving me a tip on how to achieve this.

    As for me, I need to save these attachments, then right-click and open with.... Most of the time, these are Word files that need to be opened with Word.

    I open my unnamed files with Word without any problem, open them, read them too but do not modify them
