Hello,
Thanks to the AWICONS LITE software, I managed to create an entire set of cursor models to my liking (so one cursor per function: standard cursor, text selection, hand, pencil...).
I would like to be able to locate this model concretely in Windows so I can copy it very easily and install it on any PC or share it with friends. But I can’t find it anywhere except in the Mouse > Model section, but I CANNOT DO WHAT I WANT...
Of course, some will tell me to retrieve all the images and put them in the cursors folder, but I want to make the work easier especially for beginners.
If I can’t locate my model and retrieve it to share, can I create an executable that could directly install all of my model’s cursors on another PC automatically in the right location?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Have a good evening.

Hello,
I don’t know if you’ve already solved your problem, but I’ll still try to help you.
Probably your cursor is in the WINDOWS, CURSORS folder (see list), otherwise you can search in SEARCH, type the name you gave to the cursor or type *cur, I hope you’ll be helped with my little explanation.
Best regards,
John-
Hello Musicmanjk, Thank you for your attempt to help, but my request was not to find my cursors but to locate the cursor model files. The .cur cursors, we agree, are in Windows/Cursors. But what I’m trying to know is where the cursor models are stored, where they are located... that is my question... That is to say, by default, you can customize the cursor you prefer by choosing one of the models provided by Windows. Example: you go to Mouse > Pointers tab you choose a model e.g. Windows Black (System model) if you want a black mouse with its entire set in black. “Windows Default (System model)” will give you a small white mouse pointer... but where are these models hidden so you can recover them? The cursor models proposed by Windows do not suit me for very particular reasons (and not for “fun”), so I have therefore created a series of cursors myself (therefore .cur cursors), I saved in a model still in Mouse > Pointers tab by clicking Save As, I gave a name corresponding to the model I created and then replaced each cursor image (Normal Select, etc.) with the cursor I created for that purpose. My question is where can I find this model to recover it and put it in one go on another PC without having to redo all these manipulations. Or, if applicable, how to automate all this work without resorting to all these numerous manipulations. If you know the answer, I’m still interested, but I think it’s more complex than it looks... So you have to do everything manually and my concern is that the people (adults and children) for whom these cursors are intended are very beginners at doing it themselves... That’s why I’m looking to directly retrieve the model I created so that they only have to place the cursor model I give them in the designated location and everything would be perfect. But unfortunately, for now, I don’t have the solution... In any case, thank you anyway. It’s very kind of you. Good evening. Lorina.

Hello Dalma, A huge thank you to you. We're already making progress, we know where those so-called templates are listed. Just a small clarification: I found my templates in the Shemes folder (still in the registry key cursors provided by Dalma). I’m going to test it on another PC to see if it works, and if it does, it will make many people happy in my circle of visually impaired friends who will be able to install the cursors much more easily in one go without having to configure everything themselves! Thanks again for your help, Dalma. I didn’t believe there would be a solution to my problem... Have a nice day. -- Lorina.

Hello,
I’m following up on my topic again since I haven’t received a response after 10 days. My apologies for insisting, but this is an important request.
If no one knows where the pointer models are located, that’s okay. Let’s look for another solution.
In Word, for example, it’s possible to create a macro that automatically performs all the manipulations it’s told to do, provided you explain to it what to do at least once.
Is it possible at the Windows level to create a kind of program that would simply run by clicking on a setup.exe or something similar:
- take the image files .cur (the set of my cursors created for a pointer model)
- one by one place them where needed: Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers tab > new model name > browse and change in Customize each pointer image according to the imported new images (normal select cursor replaced the default normal select, help select cursor replaced the default…)
- apply
- OK button
- close all the configuration panel windows and return to where we were.
The new cursor would then be installed very easily.
Because for a beginner it’s very difficult to perform all these manipulations. This is not for fun or leisure but for a visual adaptation for visually impaired people who, for personal reasons, cannot pay for software intended for their disability.
Also, would you know if it’s possible to create larger-than-normal cursors and how? Because with AWICONS LITE the cursors, even the largest, are still small for some visually impaired people...
Thank you very much in advance for your understanding and help. Also feel free to tell me if you really think it’s impossible to do what I’m trying to do or too complicated.
Good evening.

However, I would like to create an executable or something so that all the icons are installed at once and not fetched one by one to install them, but I don’t know how to do it. Do you have any idea? Thanks

Hello LLorina,
I have created a new discussion topic: http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 6602459 fichier reg en exe
to be able to easily install these files -
Good evening again Dalma,
Ben, I would have liked everything to be done automatically by an exe as well; we have the same needs as I can see in our request... You know, my topic has been open for several months already and I didn’t think I would find a solution. So I’m already very happy to have this semi-solution to be able to find this model. After that, if we can make an executable, it would be perfect!
Is it possible to request, by an exe, to automatically transfer the .cur files directly into the right folder, then install the model via the .reg? I still think the user will have to go and choose the model from the list of models and then apply it for it to take effect, I imagine. But if we manage to build an exe for that, that would be great!
In any case, I will continue to follow this topic and the one you just created.
If in the meantime I find something interesting, I’ll share it here of course. In any case, thank you for your discoveries.
Have a good evening.

Hello,
I know I’m replying a year after the first post, but I hope this can help others!
Here’s what I found for creating a .exe:
Follow the instructions on this page:
http://www.siteduzero.com/tutoriel-3-14171-creer-une-installation.html
When you reach the moment where you need to add files, instead of the .exe you use the .reg and in the additional files you put the different pointers.
Example : https://cadr67.fr/
There you go!
Have a nice day
