Hello,
I have a stand-alone recorder and I want to copy to a DVD-RW (already done) and then copy it to my computer
but when I try to open it, it says the function is inaccessible
I think the DVD is not finalized
How do I finalize it?

Hello,
Disk Settings
I - Initialization
If you insert a completely blank disc, the recorder will initialize it.
DVD-R: The recorder will initialize the disc in Video mode. The recording mode will always be Video mode.
DVD-RW/DVD+RW/DVD+R (DL)/DVD-RAM: The "Initialize" menu will display. Select [OK] and press ENTER.
The DVD-RW disc starts in Video mode.
You can also reformat DVD-RW/DVD+RW/DVD-RAM discs from the setup menu, as shown below.
1. Select the [Initialize] option and then press B.
2. Press ENTER with the [Start] option selected. --> The [Initialize] menu displays.
3. Select the desired mode (VR Mode or Video Mode) using the b / B buttons and then press ENTER.
A confirmation message will appear.
For DVD+RW discs, go to step 4.
4. Select the [OK] option using the b / B buttons and then press ENTER.
The initialization of the disc takes a little time.
Warning: Formatting the disc will erase all content on the disc.
II - Finalization
Finalizing the disc "fixes" the recorded content, so the disc can be read on a standard DVD player or computer with a suitable DVD-ROM drive.
Finalizing a disc in Video mode creates a menu screen allowing navigation on the disc.
To access it, press MENU/LIST or TITLE.
Warning: Once you have finalized a DVD-R or DVD+R disc, you cannot edit it or make further recordings, except in the case of DVD+RW discs. However, you can record and edit a DVD-RW disc by selecting the [Undo Finalization] option.
1. Select the [Finalize] option and then press B.
2. Press ENTER with the [Finalize] option selected. The [Finalize] menu displays.
3. Select [Ok] and press ENTER.
The recorder begins finalizing the disc.
Note: The finalization time depends on the type of disc, the amount of recorded content, and the number of titles on the disc.
Finalizing DVD+R DL discs can take up to 30 minutes.
- Tips: If you insert a finalized DVD-RW disc, you can [Undo Finalization] by selecting the [Undo Finalization] option from the [Finalize] menu. After that, you can edit and re-record the disc.
- You cannot [Undo Finalization] a DVD-R or DVD+R (DL) disc.
- If the [Disc Protection] option is set to [On], the finalization function is not available. To activate the finalization function, set the [Disc Protection] option to [Off].
So what I gathered:
Initialization corresponds to formatting the disc. It is not automatic and is done in Video mode.
To read a recorded DVD, it must be in Video Mode (VR mode will not work, but I'm not sure).
You must finalize this DVD according to the procedure indicated in the user manual.
Well, I've finished my message; I hope this helps you a bit, I'd be delighted :-)
Wishing you a joyful and festive end of the year
See you later
