Firefox: restore previous session

Question

Hello,

Here is my dilemma: I know about the Firefox function that allows retrieving a crashed session.
My problem is that after hours of fruitful research and around 60 tabs open on information that I intended to consult and exploit later, a user of my PC did not restore the Firefox session and then navigated over it. Argh.
Of course, there is history, but I would like to know if, instead of having to reopen all the links one by one and sort them out later, it wouldn't be possible to:
either recover a "previous" browsing session
or run a command that opens all the tabs from history at once, so that I only have sorting to do afterwards.

I've already done this kind of manipulation on my Mac, and today I'm facing the same issue and can't find those infamous .bak and .js files...
Do you happen to know where these files are located in OS X?

I have a much simpler solution than that: I have Firefox 3.5.6:

Go to Tools/Options/General tab and in the section On Startup of Firefox. Click on Go to my homepage and click on Show tabs and windows used

With XP, go to doc and settings/username/Applicationdata/mozilla/Profiles/
you need to find a folder containing sessionstore-xx.js files
make a copy of the most recent one, delete the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files, copy your file and rename it to sessionstore.js.
Then, by launching Firefox, you can restore your tabs from the previous session ;)

I also have a simple and effective solution, using over 200 tabs spread across a dozen windows for my usual Mozilla Firefox session. To recover all your windows and tabs from a previous Mozilla FF session that doesn't restart correctly, just go through a restore point. On Windows 7, it works every time. Go to the Control Panel via the Windows icon at the bottom left of your screen, then System and Security => Maintenance Center => at the bottom, Recovery (restore your computer to an earlier date); just set the date to the last time the Mozilla Firefox session was used normally, and your lost tabs and windows will return... don't forget to redo system updates and reinstall any missing programs during the OS restoration to an earlier date once Firefox has retrieved your lost tabs.

But it is still better, when you have many tabs, to be cautious and bookmark them to avoid losing them. Best regards, Sophie
