Headphone Jack Issue Solved

Question

Hello,
I just installed an Asus A8V-VM SE motherboard and the front headphone jack doesn't work. In the BIOS, I only have the option of "high definition audio" or "auto." If I select auto, Windows doesn't boot – I get a blue screen and the PC restarts. On auto, I have sound at the back but not on the front jacks. The connections are made. I don't understand!

In fact, you need to look in the driver options concerning the rear panel...
In the MSI driver, I disabled front panel jack detection to make it work...
I clicked on an icon with a small flat wrench next to "ANALOG" in the "Audio I/O" tab for managing the rear panel, and in the window that appeared (connector settings), I checked: "Disable Front Panel Jack Detection" (however, when I plug in the headset, it doesn't cut the sound from the speakers... go figure Charles... programmers and their drivers, it's often a mess.

Look at the driver side, I had a similar issue: the mic wasn't working on the front panel with a Realtek HD chip on my MSI P6N motherboard.
Do you have something in the control panel like: Realtek HD Audio Manager?

Yes, I have something like that, where I can see the detection when I plug in a headset or a microphone. There are indeed the front jacks, but there is no detection when I plug in my headset. I will check on Asus if there are other drivers, and I will keep you updated.

Hi all  I have a little problem playing Counter Strike Source, everything is fine until people start talking on the mic and it makes my "in" increase and then it feels like I'm lagging...  When there's a lot of talking, it's truly unplayable...  I think it might be related to my sound card... does anyone have an idea?  Thanks in advance

Good evening, I have the persistent headset issue :/

After formatting, I go to the Realtek panel, I disable the front detection but still no sound :'(

My headset works fine, I don't understand why there's no sound.

pfou a big thank you, we need to find it. I reinstalled my drivers and everything, and nothing worked. I searched in the BIOS. In short, it was a huge hassle until I stumbled upon this topic. For info, mine doesn't look like a key but like a folder right next to analog.

I have an Asus P5LP-LE motherboard in my HP Media Center PC m7350n and I can't activate the 3.5mm jack for the headphones or the microphone on the front panel. The microphone and speakers work perfectly with the rear panel.
I made sure the cable is properly connected to the motherboard. In the BIOS, I seem to have the latest version, which is 3.15.
I am on WINDOWS 7.
In Realtek HD Audio, I don't see "Analog."
In my BIOS, there's nothing regarding the front panel.
Do you have any idea?

You need to find the sound drivers for your motherboard and connect the "front panel" instead of the "rear panel" (sound in the front instead of sound in the back) through the sound card of your motherboard, which must be activated beforehand...
If it's not clear, ask me for further explanations (I had to do the same thing when I got a computer with possible sound in front)

I only have the motherboard's sound card. I don't have any other independent sound cards.
The only independent card that might come close is:
Hauppage Win TV PVR PCI II (for TV).

Yes, I also have the same issue with the front jack seemingly disabled. The latest drivers are installed, taken from the Realtek website, the utility offers a whole bunch of options, but the jacks are grayed out and impossible to enable... Under XP, everything works fine, but under 7... so it's not hardware. The BIOS is up to date, and I suspect a deactivation or non-activation of this front panel somewhere in the depths of Seven or the Realtek drivers, but I'm stuck... So if someone has found a solution, thanks for the help ;-)

Control Panel >>> System >>> Device Manager >>> click on the small icon "Sound, video and game controllers" >>> then click on Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio >>> disable >>> enable and voilà, the problem is fixed ^^
P.S. I know I'm really late to respond haha but for those who see the message, they will know what to do in two or three clicks of the mouse, there you go.
