Square brackets Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,
As a new Mac user who installed the Mac version of Open Office, I'm horrified to discover the absence of square brackets on Mac keyboards, and furthermore, I can't find them under "Insert - Special Characters." I have scientific texts to type with formulas like benzo/1,3/dioxol-5-yle... except that instead of slashes, I would like square brackets. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

Hello, On my Macbook Pro keyboard, the [ and ] are alt with 9 or 0. I have a Quebec QWERTY keyboard.  Hoping to help.

Thank you very much. It wasn't exactly that, but it put me on the right track. After trial and error, I found that [ is obtained with Alt + 5 and ] is obtained with Alt + °. I think this can be useful to others, but we would really appreciate a small basic manual, which is missing, and furthermore the help doesn't help :-<... Nothing in the alphabetical list... Anyway, my problem is thus solved. Thank you again.

Good evening,
I found the mathematical brackets.
Open System Preferences/International/Input Menu/check Character Palettes and Keyboard Viewer.
And at the bottom of the window check the box (show in the menu bar)
