USER ACCOUNTS
SolvedHello
I’m running out of space on my system drive, but in the "USERS" directory I find a whole collection of subdirectories named DEFAULTUSER100000.yourpcname.000 to 007, another series DEFAULTUSER100001, etc. Some are empty but others can take up to 33 MB.
What are these folders for and especially can they be deleted.
Thanks in advance
OldNik

Hello,
I can’t explain the reason for their presence, otherwise perhaps during startup on a temporary profile, ?
If they are empty, or duplicates, it seems to me that you can delete them. You can start by deleting everything in the folder
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DownloadThen in the search area type Disk Cleanup and choose > C:
You will be able to choose to clean the "System files", "Previous Windows installations" if there are any, as well as everything else.
Configure your Internet browser to download to a folder on D:\ if there is a partition or a D:\ drive rather than into your C:\Users\YourName\Downloads directory
You can store elsewhere on D:\ or on an external drive what is in your personal subfolders of C:\Users\YourName\...
TreeSize Free can help to see what takes up the most space
Then clean with:
Wise Disk Cleaner
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/24193-wise-disk-cleaner/ATF-Cleaner
Then right-click This PC > Properties > System Protection
Or press "Search" for systempropertiesprotection.exe
Choose C:\
Configure > Delete
Go back > Create

Hello,
Uninstall leftovers, for example Windows updates, which can be removed, but that probably won’t be what will free up space for you.

Hello,
Who can tell us, regardless of the lettering, that the device in question has a second logical partition or a second physical disk, or even on some models the possibility of installing the latter?
At the extreme, on a number of machines equipped with an eMMC of 32 or
64 GB one has reason to cry.
Even on somewhat less cramped PCs, a significant portion of the disk space can be consumed outside user folders by a large number of resource-hungry programs. -

Hello,
And WinSxs
We can also optionally clean this folder with these two commands, one after the other by right-clicking on the Start button > Terminal (Admin)dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Hello,
Yes, I know, but Windows does an auto-cleanup of the older installers.
We won't gain more than 2-3 GB at best, that's what I recover after each version update (regardless of emptying Temp folders).
It's still something learned, but it's not going to free a significant amount of space on the disk unless it has very low capacity (eMMC...).
