Network hard drive for internet access?

Hello everyone!

In the office, I have a backup file of 7GB that I save on an external SSD drive.

The problem is that I sometimes forget the external SSD on the PC when I leave.

Is it possible to create a hard drive accessible from home? To put my hard drive on the network?

Thanks in advance.

Free cloud solutions often limit to 5GB.

Hello,

Nothing prevents remote control with AnyDesk or equivalent in silent mode (no confirmation on the target PC) as long as the remote PC is on, or else the SSD will behave as if we were in front of it.

Thank you, but is a solution with the PC off possible? By going through the box? (Livebox Pro at the office and Bbox Ultim at home)

No, I suppose the SSD in question is connected to the PC, not to its Box, and therefore it's impossible unless the PC in question is equipped with a Wake On Lan function.

I have unpleasant old memories of trying to access a local network PC behind a Livebox Pro from the outside (which worked fine for third-party servers like AnyDesk, but the Box censored direct PC-to-PC access like VNC).

The SSD hard drive is external, I was thinking that by connecting it to the box there might be a way to create a cloud.

This would imply that it is permanently connected to the Box, otherwise we will also forget to do it.

By the way, it's not a healthy approach; leaving your backup drive at your workplace exposes it to theft or fire.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but it seems to me that drives connected to the Box only have a DLNA function (hosting a multimedia file server), in which case, it would no longer be possible to back up from the PC nor would it likely be accessible from the outside since this drive is not shared independently and does not have its own IP address.
