A new PC every 5-7 years or continuous upgrades?

Hello everyone,

I built a PC in 2018, which I kept until last December.

My new system has a 9800x3D with a 4070s inside. No issues with gaming and other activities (mainly 3D).

I’m wondering what the best practice is: to upgrade this PC every time a new generation of CPU/GPU comes out and sell the old parts, or to keep the same system until it’s no longer useful?

Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    Both are equal.

    But.

    • If we take a powerful PC as a base, the margin for improvement in evolution without changing major parts is low.
    • If we choose an entry-level model, but a well-selected one, it can be upgraded gradually, depending on the drop in prices of compatible components.
