Changing the graphics card on an HP Pavilion HPE 511fr PC

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 511 fr, with an original graphics card (Nvidia GT 420).

I would like to change the graphics card (I bought a GTX 1060 6G kfa2) but it doesn't work, it's not detected, I think.

The motherboard is PEGATRON 2AB6, with an inherited AMI BIOS 7.08.

MY question is: how can I get the graphics card to be recognized? If it's not possible, what would be the most recent graphics card model that would be compatible?

    Hello,

    The firmware of your PC is intentionally limited by the manufacturer, or you just haven't changed the power supply if it's still possible on this type of PC, to power this 1060.

      Hello,

      After installing the new graphics card, the PC beeps several times and gets stuck on the startup screen.

      The power supply is 460W and the GTX 1060 apparently uses about 120W. Could that be the issue?

        No, but is it directly connected to the power supply, the GTX? To the 6+2 pin?

        Have you uninstalled the old Nvidia video driver dedicated to the GT420?

        No, I haven't uninstalled the old ones. I'll try. But I'm afraid it might be from the AMI BIOS 7.08 from 2011...
