Do you know chrome://newtab

Hello,

When I try to open my Google Chrome browser, a different window opens called chrome://newtab. I've searched through all my applications, and nobody knows about this intruder. Do you have any idea what this might be, and if so, is it dangerous? It's impossible to remove because it doesn't appear anywhere in the settings.
