OneDrive sharing in File Explorer

Hello,

I am sharing a OneDrive folder with a colleague and I would like both of us to be able to access it from the Windows file explorer.

For my part, being the owner, there is no problem, but for her, OneDrive only provides a link that allows her to access the OneDrive website from her web browser, but does not allow downloading and syncing the shared file.

Do you know if this is possible and how to do it?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Unfortunately, it's impossible

Hello, thank you for your response!

It's really frustrating in a professional context because it was possible two or three years ago, and that's why I went with the Microsoft solution. :(

I've been considering getting a NAS that backs up my professional data to OneDrive for a while now; I will really look into that more closely.

Have a good day!

Hello

That's the big difference between free "personal" OneDrive and the "business" versions.

What you want to do is perfectly possible, but you need a 365 Business subscription that offers these multiple connection options and geographical synchronizations.

Of course, it's paid...........

Hello flo88

Sorry, but in business you cannot sync your OneDrive on someone else's PC (thankfully) or you'll have to share the technique with me ;-)

Oh yes, even if it's paid, it could still work, but how does it work?

@NonoM45 StatutMembre it's not the whole OneDrive, it's just two shared folders from my OneDrive that I want to synchronize. But I think what I'm looking for will be more easily achievable with a NAS.

This is where it gets stuck. I share folders with them. Once shared, they go to their browser, into shared folders, and add a shortcut to their Drive.

Until recently, when I did this, it would sync the shared folder on the person's PC. For the past few weeks, it only creates a shortcut for them, allowing them to open the folder in the web browser. They don’t even access the shared folder from the Windows file browser.

Since you're telling me it's not feasible, I'm going to go with a NAS and that's it. We'll manage like this for now and by the beginning of next year, I’ll have invested.

We all agree that it concerns:

Everyone accesses a file for editing (not at the same time, that's obviously impossible) on the OneDrive cloud?

If it were impossible with enterprise versions, it is obvious that Microsoft would no longer sell its cloud solutions to anyone. Even via Teams, we can work on shared files through the cloud, for example for tracking leave.

In today's corporate world, how can telecommuting among employees be done if it is not possible to work on shared documents, folders, files?

That's exactly it. From the browser, there are no issues; we can even make changes at the same time.

But I also want to be able to access it from the file browser so that I can use these documents as if they were on her drive.

Basically... Use OneDrive like a NAS.
