Hello,
We do not charge for sending messages and media, nor for voice and video calls on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has not charged any subscription fees since 2016.
To use WhatsApp, you need an internet connection via a mobile data network or Wi-Fi. Data charges may apply for these services. For more information on data charges, contact your mobile operator.
Data charges may also apply if you use data while roaming or if you use your device’s default messaging or calling system.

WhatsApp uses the same internet connection on your phone as browsing the web and sending emails. If you use WhatsApp while your phone is roaming, data charges may apply. Contact your mobile operator for more information about roaming abroad.
If you do not have an international plan, we recommend disabling:
- Mobile data and data roaming to avoid roaming data charges. You can visit your mobile operator's website to find out how to do this.
- Automatic media file downloads over your cellular connection and while roaming to avoid any additional charges.

Hello,
International calls on Snapchat are paid, and the rates vary depending on the country you are calling, as listed on their website.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is free if you have a connection (or purchase data for your phone) and the person you are calling does too, without having to worry about their location.
