If you are on a laptop, there should be a rectangle symbol below the F5/F3 symbols (on the same key) to enable the touchpad, disable it but enable the external mouse, or enable both (it’s a cycle). Often you need to press the fn key if it’s the same color as the drawing of the touchpad; for example, for me, the fn key is orange and the symbol is also orange, so I have to press fn + F5. But BE CAREFUL, this is not mandatory; often the touchpad symbol takes precedence over the “F5,” so sometimes you don’t need to press fn, or else you will be pressing F5 and not the function of the touchpad.
