Network connection via SIM card on Lenovo Thinkpad

Hello everyone

I bought a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad T480s laptop.

This one has a slot for a nano SIM card.

The problem is that the laptop doesn't seem to be able to connect to the network via the SIM card because in the network card menu, there is no network card called "cellular".

In the past, I had a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop with a SIM card reader and it could connect to the internet via the SIM card.

Do you think this laptop can't connect via a SIM card or am I missing a driver to install?

If it's a missing driver, where can I find it? I searched the Lenovo support site without success.

For your information, I tested the SIM card in a phone and it works very well.

Thank you in advance for your time

    Hello,

I think the 4G card was an option that isn't necessarily installed, even though there is a SIM slot.

I had a T410 that was like that too; you needed a classic USB 3G modem (back then we didn’t have 4G).

And there you have it, voilà ....

But damn, those line spacing issues are so annoying!!

      Hello

Indeed, I think you are right, I don't have the mobile network card option on my t480s.

I found the card for €40 on eBay, I'll try it out when I receive it.

      Thank you

There are the antennas, that's already something :-)

We probably need to find pilots as well.

Card received and installed. However, it does not appear in the device manager.

I tried resetting the network cards without success.

How can I get it recognized?

Have you installed the driver before?

        in the hidden devices (display)

don't forget to plug in the antennas too, otherwise it won't work as well.

Yes, obviously I had properly plugged in the antennas.

And no, it doesn't even appear in the hidden devices.

I installed the driver and firmware that I found on the Lenovo support.

Good evening, you need to enable it in the BIOS (WWAN)

ah, it is indeed possible, yes.

Indeed, in the BIOS "Wireless WAN" was disabled.

Once enabled, upon starting Windows, the LTE card and the SIM card were recognized immediately.

      Thank you both very much.
