Windows 11 en mode S

Hello, I just bought a laptop, and when I try to install Firefox, it tells me that I need to exit S mode, and apparently this switch is irreversible.

After some research, I have little information; is it advisable to do this, are there any risks? Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello.

    Yes, it is better to exit S mode otherwise you won't be able to install anything outside of Microsoft Store apps.

      Yes, it's irreversible.

      There is no risk in exiting S mode if you don't download any "junk" from who knows where.

      Software, drivers, or updates should be downloaded ONLY from the publisher's site.

    The only "risk": S mode is mostly used to lighten Windows on a PC that is too underpowered.

    You will no longer have that "light" aspect and will have to manage the weight of the tasks you demand from your PC on a daily basis. Rarely insurmountable :-).

    Of course, the irreparable only concerns the current Windows license.

    You still have the option to purchase an S mode license and reformat everything, of course.

    ...If the manufacturer hasn't multiplied the "solders" of the hardware to a single license.

      S mode imposes restrictions but is by no means a stripped-down version of Windows.

        Hello,

        People confuse causes and effects: when Windows S is lighter, it's because we couldn't install a multitude of programs that launch their own services, possibly at startup, and their scheduled tasks.

        It is enough to "lighten" Windows on a low-powered machine, officially the target audience for Windows S, to control these launches.
