Unable to burn a CD or DVD R or RW

Hello, for a week now I have been unable to burn a CD on my computer. Reading a CD or DVD works fine, but I can't burn anymore. I receive a message saying that a burning error has occurred and that the disk may be unusable (internal SDK error). I have tried using a CD-RW, but the same thing keeps happening! If you have any ideas about this issue, thank you in advance for your response. I am using Windows 10 64-bit on an Acer Aspire X desktop with a super-multidrive DVD+/RW.

Hello,
I think it's due to the nature of your DVD which is "rewritable" depending on the color and materials...??? it's still quite common.
Try with a DVD that is not R/W to see if it works.
Good evening and thank you for the quick response. So my DVD is R, which means it's not rewritable, and since it's now damaged, it's out of order (another one gone). It's the same with the CDs (five failed ones). The last ones I burned last week are flawless, and the player is working very well (still today). I don't understand what's happening. I uninstalled CDBurner and then reinstalled it, but that didn't help. Even with the Windows Media Player burner, it doesn't burn!!
Thank you and have a good evening. Jacques
OK, so having the reader work... that's one thing, but it doesn't prove that the burner works... let's say the laser cell works in the opposite direction... It produces a laser beam that needs to engrave into the sensitive layer of the CD, while the reading measures the reflection of the light... One can be broken, even if the other works...
The best and cheapest test is to burn a CD... it is possible that this device is malfunctioning (for burning)
What does your "Device Manager" say, is the CD burner marked with a yellow dot...? indicating a problem...
What is the model of this Acer Aspire X... and how old is it..?
Knowing the exact model of the CD burner would also be interesting...
By any chance, would you be able to try another burner on this PC..??

You don't answer the questions... This information can be found in the ad for this PC, it doesn't give the model that is on the identification plate of the PC, behind or underneath... Its age either... the brand of the burner... The yellow dot... etc.
What does your "Device Manager" say, is the CD burner showing a yellow dot..? indicating a problem..
What is the model of this Acer Aspire X... and its age..?

Hello, the information is indeed the same as what's on the label of the computer; it's 5 years old, 2017. No yellow dot (DVD RW G peripheral), that's all. The model is an Aspire X XC780. On the label, it says Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core TM i5 processor 6400, NVIDIA (GeForce) GTX 745 4GB graphics, 1 TB hard drive, 6GB DDR4 memory, SuperMultiDrive DVD+/- RW. That's what is on the computer, I don't have another drive, but I wonder if there has been an update that is causing problems. Well, I'm not going to replace the machine for that; I am 86 years old and I shouldn't be stockpiling CDs or DVDs as they may not be of much use to me. (laughs) If it's a problem, I'll let it go. Thank you and have a good day. Jacques
I just found in the device manager a drive name, drive DESKTOP - NU 76A4E, is this what you want? The rest is still the same.
And this update...?? Was it for Windows..?? Or for the DVD burner..??
Maybe we need to reinstall the drivers for this burner..?
So it's this PC https://www.acer.com/ac/fr/BE/content/support-product/6818?b=1
You might be able to restore Windows configuration just before this update... Just to get back to the previous setup.
Otherwise, you should have a CD with the drivers that came with your PC... and with that, it should be possible to reload the drivers for the burner.
... You might also consider replacing this burner with an identical model... to find out, you'll need to disassemble the current model to see its brand, model, dimensions, and connection interface...
Eventually, you might need some help or assistance from the grandkids or a good neighbor who knows a bit about it...!!!
Good evening, I found a solution while waiting for my grandson who is a computer engineer (which doesn't mean he will find the problem), but I cleaned up the recorded CDs, more than 100!!! plus 120 DVDs, I have a lot of duplicates, so I took a USB stick and I’m recovering what I like the most. Frankly, I don't think I'll have the time to read everything! Also, I'm going to record 78 RPM records (some are a century old!!) since I can't walk too much anymore, this helps pass the time. So thank you for the help and have a good evening. Jacques
OK, all of that is quite understandable... And I advise getting help with this task... Hoping that the grandson isn’t allergic to the screwdriver..!! But in my opinion, one solution would be to put all that on a small external drive... like files, quite simply, and to read them on the PC with the free VLC software here https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.fr.html
