Dual boot Windows Ubuntu no sound on Windows
Hello,
I recently downloaded Ubuntu in dual boot with Windows, but I noticed that when I was on Windows, I no longer had sound in my speakers. However, I could restart my computer, go to my Linux partition, then restart and boot into Windows, and I would have sound again.
I should mention that I have sound when I'm on Windows until I go to my Linux partition.
But after multiple reboots, I no longer have sound on Windows; I'm starting to go crazy.
Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Hello,
Windows and Linux are two independent systems, so it's likely a Windows issue. I don't think your sound card "remembers" anything when you restart.
Some ideas:- Have you tried reinstalling your sound card driver in Windows?
- What is the exact model of your sound card (copy and paste the result of
lspci | grep -i audio
)? Have you tried to see if others with the same sound card had the same problem?
Good luck! -
I have uninstalled the driver several times but it doesn't change anything
not sure I understood how to find my sound card but I have this:
Speakers: (Connexant Smart audio)
I've searched for a lot of solutions for my problem but restarting was the only one that worked. -
I have already tried reinstalling my sound card driver without any results,
my sound card is a Connexant Smart Audio
I think there’s something to configure in the BIOS to get everything back to normal, but I really can't find anything. -
At the risk of insisting, please report back to me the *exact* result of
lspci | grep -i audio
, as it helps to facilitate the search. -
Here is what I have
00:1f.3 Périphérique audio : Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21) -
I looked into your sound card model, and people affected usually complain about a lack of sound following an update, but that has nothing to do with your issue.
This discussion indicates that disabling the boot of Windows 10 is a credible explanation you could try.
If the problem persists, I think you should ask your question on the Windows forum because, in my opinion, Linux is not to blame. Therefore, the most credible explanation would be a sound card that is improperly installed or configured under Windows, or maybe a virus.
Good luck!
